Until pac and Floyd fight each other or move up in weight I can see all their fights having this buzz. I havent been excited for a fight by either boxer since Pacquiao V Cotto, ill still watch but it just doesn't grip me that much. That being said i expect marquez to give him a good fight and much closer than people are thinking but Pac will win by UD
Agree with pabby. Not overly excited about it, not really more so than a usual Pacquiao fight which I look forward to anyway. I guess I'm not really expecting this fight to live up to the previous 2, I would be pleasantly surprised if its a fairly competitive fight. I never really get into the build up for fights these days. Never watch 24/7, I think its ******ed. A load of over dramatized dragged out nonsense IMO, that doesn't get me up for fights at all.
I've actually been proper excited for this. Much more than that Mayweather-Ortiz nonsene of a fight, anyway. Also, it's not like JMM has gone that far beyond his prime that he can no longer be considered a challenging opponent for Pac. Especially when it was only in Pac's last fight - when he picked Mosley - that he was being criticized for overlooking JMM. And in regards to the weight, it’s more of a case of Pacquiao being the much better fighter when he’s allowed to be conditioned properly, than JMM being debilitated by the supposed weight gain. They’re both of similar size, and the 144 catchweight isn’t restricting them in how they reach their usual 148 (Pac) and 145 (JMM) in-ring weights. This fight will be well worth the watch.
Watching Pacquiao fight these days is like watching the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. It's usually a really good and exciting fight, bar the odd stinker (see Big Bossman/Mosley), but its spoiled by the fact you know he is going to win before they even step in to the ring. I hope Marquez gives him a close fight, but at this weight, I just can't see it.
This has definitely been true for Pacquiao for me...for a long time now. People keep making cases for how people can win, and I never saw it. I think people are catching on though, nobody is picking JMM in this.
I'm hoping Marquez takes the view that coming in as light as possible is actually the best way for him to win this fight. Vs Mayweather he was just sluggish and it was as clear as day that it was the extra bulk he'd put on which caused it. Now, if he came in in a similar condition to that it may hurt him even more than that fight given that his sharp reactions in countering is what has caused Pacquiao so much trouble in the previous 2 meetings. He's not going to KO Pacquiao so putting extra weight on to add some power to his shots isn't worthwile IMO. Clean, accurate counters are what will give him the best chance so being in a condition where he's sharp enough to do that is vital.
The only reason I am not looking forward to this fight is that I think JMM will end getting stopped and that will be sad for me; but at the same time I love watching Pac fight and by the sounds of it he is gonna put on a retirement-inducing (not just for JMM:hey) performance. I am actually more pumped for Cotto-Marg cos that has war written all over it.
