Best time to do your roadwork?

    Running has impact from the ground up which has helped increase my coordination and balance, especially running on uneven surfaces. I feel that is one main thing that has helped the boxing a lot. Also I dont think you can get the same response comparing cycling/rowing/swimming to sprinting up a hill or running on a field. Its the control over the intense output thats important to boxing I believe running is far superior controlling the response and using your body in a way to train for boxing.

    Also the impact has strengthened muscle and bones from the ground up, i can't imagine how strong the legs of calzaghe or any world champ must be after all the different kind of runs. You say it's not specific strengthen your legs but you can't disagree that it does a good job. Even the whole body is worked to a degree core, shoulders and arms included, all sore after a run.

    This I agree with to a degree, but running on an uneven surface is asking for an injury.

    This, just no. Running does not strengthen your legs. Squats, deadlifts etc strengthen your legs. I can't see any world champion having above average leg strength just from running. If running = leg strength, marathon runners would be ****ing monsters in the gym, this is obviously not the case.

    Get your Rowing hr up to the same as your Running hr.

    Much more brutal.

    Its true. The boxers at our gym who are mad runners all have very strong stable legs over the guys who just use the gym. Not saying they squat 140kgs everyday but running = strong fit legs suited to rounds of footwork in the ring. Also your Marathon metaphor was ridiculous

    Running on uneven surface askibg for injury?? Do you even train bookworm

    Okay brb- squats = leg strength to move around for 5 rounds :roll:

    :lol: trendy science? Yeah let's just ignore what happens to our bodies and do whatever. For a beginner or someone who doesn't care about improving themselves your advice is solid.

    I agree with this in regards to running intervals, not long distances though. You don't need to do many sessions a week to get the benefits you're talking about. Athletes at different stages of training need different things, doing roadwork every morning all year round is pointless. The benefits you're talking about here can be achieved in other ways without draining your glycogen stores as much. Understanding 'trendy science' as someone put it is useful because you can use your time more efficiently. You train smart you can reach goals quicker which gives you a higher ceiling in the long term.

    It is scientifically proven that your body is more efficient in the morning. Unfortunately the entire point of conditioning is to force the body to overcome inefficiency so it seems morning road work is the WORST thing you could do. The question is, is the boost in inefficiency and subsequent body adaptation to it giving you an edge versus just saying F it and running in the morning?

    Unless you are getting paid to Box? I say, run when you can.

    Possibly, but many "trendy science" trained fighters don't look like they can do a 15 round fight. Just sayin'.

    is endurance a form of strength?

    running distances improves muscular leg endurance.

    and running mid day helps bring down your stress lvls and blood pressure as its usually higher mid day then it is in the morning, personally i hate running before work so i run after work.

    More efficient in the morning in what way? Scientifically proven? I would love to see that. I won't even address the rest of the nonsense you just posted.
