Who is the most overrated boxer today minus Floyd or Manny? I would have to say Canelo Alvarez

Alvarez certainly did not look good in his last outing against Gomez, but the kid is very young and perhaps he underestimated his opponent.

Honestly, I think this forum is already aware of his current limitations, so I wouldn't say he is the most overrated.

I don't know who that designation belongs to, it just depends on the circumstances and who they're being compared to.

    Brandon Rios

I like to watch him, but I don't think he's all that great. Gets by on heart for the most part.

Honestly, I would say he's a little underrated. I think most people still see him as nothing but a one dimensional slugger with a huge heart.

I think if he improves defensively, as he was showing signs of in his last fight, that this guy will be a monster in the division.

Now, I suppose you could take what I said and say that I'm overrating the kid, but I too recognize his limitations, and I don't think he's at championship level quite yet.

Based on fan reception... They say he's the next superstar of mexico and whatnot... and he's selling out stadiums in Mexico like Chavez, which he is not worthy of.. yet anyways..

Bute is another person who is getting to much for what he deserves imo.

Aside from Canadians though, it doesn't seem like Bute has that many fans on this forum.

I do realize that Bute sells out stadiums, but that's because he delivers.

He had 6 straight knockouts before Johnson, and even in that fight, after 9 rounds of sparring or so, he still went in with that killer instinct, even taking punches to land his own.

Now, if Bute is being proclaimed as the best 168 lber, in all honesty, he probably doesn't deserve that claim based on the fact that the other fighters have probably fought better competition; however, there is no clear number 1 in that division.

I think Bute certainly has the tools, the size, and the ability to be the best in that division. I think a guy like Dirrell could give him serious problems because in my opinion, Bute does show some holes defensively, but the problem with Dirrell is that he's unreliable and he's been on a signficant layoff.

But Bute vs Froch or Ward could very well be 50/50.

In addition, Bute has shown power in both hands, he's quick, and he has skills.

I don't think guys like Alvarez and especially Rios are at that skill level yet.

But in so far as common opponents, I thought Bute beat Johnson more convincingly than Froch, and I think he beat Bika more convincingly than Ward did.

In the days after his last fight Bute had about 1 thread for every 5 Kirkland thread and from now on, until he fight next time, you will see either his fans talking about him here and there and some haters making thread about how he never fought anyone.

I think it's about the same for other fighters that just fought, we talk about them a lot for a couple of days and then we go back to "mayweather this, Pac that" or to "X fighter vs prime Y fighter" thread.

I think Rios may be the most overrated and perhaps, Gamboa might be the most underrated.

Nobody seems to give Gamboa his props. Yes, he didn't seem that impressive against his last opponent in the sense that it wasn't an exciting fight, but that's because his opponent fought scared.

i agree Bute i think on here gets more hate than over rating

he is top 3 which is interchangeable and he can beat Froch and Ward
