here is the thing are we under estimating marquez's ability to gou p to this weight? i mean going up and fighting mayweather in your first fight is not the best information to go off....and he did give it more of a go than quite a few mayweather opponents

 

This will be a very competitive fight I believe, lots of fans think Marquez will be ko'ed early similar to how they counted Kirkland out, I'm expecting Marquez to intentionally start a tad slow to feel the "new" Pac out and to avoid an early knock down and then proceed to out box him down the stretch, this will be great technical skills vs great athleticism...

That's the point I've tried to input, Mayweather is a defense first fighter, Marquez feeds off his opponents aggression, though Marquez is smaller than Mosely and Ortiz, Floyd chose to outbox jmm rather than take the fight to him and walk him down like he did with the bigger Shane & Victor....

This is a testament to Floyds intelligence to identify his opponents weaknesses, he knew vic and Shane were not effective fighting going back and he knew jmm is very capable of fighting going back and prefers not to be the aggressor but rather a counter-puncher...

Now that combined with Floyd being an extraordinary boxer and Juan fighting out of his most effective style is why that fight went that way rather than it being the weight, there are no opponents on Floyds resume who even came close to out boxing him, success was only found with pressure and volume punching, even then 9 out of 10 times Floyd shuts you down no matter what style or fighter...

So that's a bad fight to gauge jmm effectiveness at the higher weights and barring Manny putting on a boxing clinic I expect this fight to be very competitive....
