So let me pose this question. I am no boxing expert, Ray himself said Floyd's dad (according to his own quotes) was very slick and he still had to be careful while he was fighting him. Floyd Sr. fought SRL with an injured hand, lung disease and limited mobility due to being shot in the let by a shotgun earlier in life. Ray Leornard say he got hit by Floyd but it seemed like his punches had no sting like "something was missing". I guess that leaves us with this question...how much better is Floyd than his dad? And can we use that fight to gauge how floyd would do? I'd say it would be alot closer than what the polls are indicating and I believe almost every poll on here involving Floyd ends up on the losing end with the exception of "Would you like to see Floyd get hit by a truck" the polls would be 98% yes...true story...

I agree with you. Leonard had too much size, hand speed, footwork, power, and combination punching for both Mayweather and Pacquaio. Mayweather would probably last longer than Pacquaio, but I think Leonard would stop both.

I think you bring up great points. Adding to the factors you dropped, we must also consider the size. FMS was bigger. I know you don't say size=power/chin, but in this case due to the close relationship I say it is a safe bet.

I think FMS had the physical tools to be better than FMJ, but he lacked the mind of a champion. My bet would be on FMJ out Boxing FMS.

Ray Leonard would have beaten both of them at welter.
Thomas Hearns would have beaten both of them at welter.
Duran would probably have beaten both of them at welter. The only difference is the other 2 are just naturally bigger, and hit harder. Duran was a ****ing beast though.

god DAMN shut the jesus **** UP!

SRL, Duran etc and NOT fighters of a bygone era. They are modern fighters. What the **** is it with you guys that you think 1985 is some lost in the misty past Eisenhower ****?

Duran beat Leonard. Say it 1500 times, because it's pretty much the only huge accomplishment he ever had after LW, and his only huge accomplishment at LW was dominating a weak division while actually weighing in as a jr. WW as often as not. He got smoked and dominated in two rematches by SRL. Totally dominated, outpunched and outskilled by Benitez and Hearns. Beaten by Kirkland Laing at WW. Beaten by DeJesus at LW and his resume is dog**** compared to Pac's or JCC's at the lower weights. Davey Moore had all of 12 fights behind him when he fought Duran, and Barkley just isn't that special.

Goddam this Duran worship is annoying. When Duran was JMM's age he was losing to the mighty 14-1 Pat Lawlor.

    Nice intro.

Who said that? The little man in your head? I am saying it was a different time. No more. No less.

Duran worship? The dude is a great. Period.

    Pac is better? Right. Absurd.

At 168? WTF? That fight was stopped due to an injured shoulder. This is even entering a discussion about a Boxers' greatness? It would be akin to judging RJJ or JT's careers on Lebedev. So absurd there is no point in talking about it.

    Talk about STFU.

Destroy is a strong word. I think Leonard would beat both Mayweather and Pacquiao. If the word destroy is going to be used it would be used more for his win over Pacquiao rather than over Mayweather.

Floyd would talk plenty of ****, but he'd never get in the ring.

I think Sugar Ray beats both. But in great fights and not easily.

I would pick him to beat both, but not destroy them. I think he stops Pacquiao.

No dbuts about it, Pac, Floyd, RJJ, Oscar, all in their primes, look at how Leonard won the WW title from Benitez, how did he came back and stopped Motor City Kobra Hearns in the 13th round, how he toyed with Hagler at times and after a 5 year layoff, how he almost smashed Hearns at 160 plus pounds in the 12th and final round. Leonard is the single most gifted fighter since Ali. No wonder Angelo Dundee sat in their corners.
