That's a really great list SS. Frazier-Ali a little high maybe? Let me have a think.

I like the mention of the last two in particular.

Kalambay-McCallum II was a really high level fight for two aging stars.

    I'd have Harada-Jofre instead of Canzoneri-Chocolate.

Cheers, and yeah, it is a little high, just a bit of homage to Joe I guess...

Both Jofre-Harada fights were class efforts, I simply picked the latter becuase I felt Jofre was a little better prepared and less drained for that one. Still, the first has a good argument for a top 10 spot.

Napoles vs. Cokes and Leonard vs. Benitez should definitely rate a mention, good calls.

There was a lot of ability on display, no doubt, but probably not in the ballbark of a top 10 for mine...

The Napoles/Cokes bouts were a little too one-sided I think. I had Leonard/Benitez wide for Leonard, but most of the rounds were very close, so I can abide by that one being mentioned.

What I can't abide by is McGrain questioning the inclusion of Canzoneri/Chocolate. I think that's genuinely the best footage that could be shown to new age doubters of the old school. Tremendous fight. And I'll punch McGrain in the mouth if he says otherwise.

Napoles-Cokes was probably too one sided, even though Cokes still fought well...

I was considering a survey similar to the weight class ones using this same exact topic.

For me (at heavyweight) the first Marciano-Walcott classic would have to figure pretty high - depending on how highly you rate both I guess?? Those who (like me) rate these two very highly (I have Marciano number 1 and Walcott number 12 or 13) would have to figure two of the best both fighting their best fight against each other on the same night

Bowe-Holy 1 is another which springs to mind - Bowe at his absolutely best and Holy proving his greatness still at his best

Hagler-Hearns would be one that would have to figure near the very top as well

More recently maybe Benn-McClellan for super-middleweights short history??

Depends on your criteria, ie does it need to be competitive, are you looking for the ultimate in skill level or just the best fighting the best

I'm looking for good performances from both guys. It doesn't necessarily have to be close, but if it isn't close, the likelihood is that one guy isn't going to be performing well.

Also, it isn't necessarily about skillful fights. Ability is broader, and can encapsulate savage displays, so long as they are effective of course...

Rocky - I like the mention of Marciano-Walcott, a high quality fight definitely with good ability shown by both.
