He looks a lot better lately. His footwork is good...jab is good. great power in the right. His people are bringing him along...Needs to work on his defense. Time for a step up in class.
Dinu is not a prospect, he's just a young guy they throw in on an Romanian undercard once a year or so. The guy is going nowhere, and he's not very good anyway.
Yeah, his jab is as powerful as anyone's in the division, and SHARP. Followed by his cross or straight, it presents a huge problem for smaller fighters. I'm not calling him the next K2 or Lewis, but it's arguable to say that his defensive liabilities and his questionable beard are similar detractors as the above mentioned were alleged to have.:-( I'd really like to see him vs Fury.....people are enamored with TF and Price as if they are granite chinned titlists. I'd like to see them step up against Wilder as much as I'd like to see him step up against them.:deal
Herein lies the problem........Pajkic isn't exactly a great fighter himself....on paper the win looks almost as good as beating a Pulev, a Wilder or a Mitchell, but in reality, can Neven hurt Fury, pressure him for more than 1-3 rds, and how long can he hold on against the Fury jab/cross combo. Too many BIGGER questions with Paj as there are with Mitchell, Wilder, and Pulev, and even Fury himself.:-(
A poster earlier in this thread posted that Deontay Wilder is the next Michael Grant. He does remind of Michael Grant in many ways size not many boxing skills etc. To compare him to Tyson is crazy nothing alike (if anyone is the "next" Tyson it would be Mike Perez). I think Wilder has more potential than Grant but I see the comparison.
Grant coulda been something too.......he just lost all confidence when he landed the Lewis fight and got smoked. Glad to see Grant is back and seems to have a ton more heart than years past.:good
For a 26 year old former Olympian with 19 pro fights, he needs to start adding some substance to his resume and begin facing higher level comp, as well as getting the experience he needs. I mean someone like Ray Mercer was fighting better opposition in his 12th and 13th fights than Wilder is now... Dito for Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson.. I can understand that his people don't want to rush things too quickley, and there is also the business side of the issue of finding the right people willing to make a deal, but its time to step it up.
No doubt Grant had a lot of potential as well. Also, Grant hasn't exactly had a bad career just not a hall of fame career. He's held some regional titles and even minor "World" titles (IBC) could add the minor WBF "World" Title to the list.
