Pacquiao is not only much greater than Marquez, but a much better fighter too.

Popkins, If Pacquiao was much better than Marquez, why did he watied year's and drag Marquez all the way up almost 2 divisions where he doesn't even belong???

    Contribution?

You've just wasted almost a 1,000 words on something this forum already knows (Pacquiao being better than JMM), and you're telling me about contribution?

Hey, Popkins, guess what. Bernard is a superior fighter to Pascal.

Oh, you already know that? Well, let me write an essay and tell you anyway.

I like how this was said earlier in this thread even:

No one who has been here since 2004 can be so stupid as to watch boxing that long and still think that way, can they? If he's not trolling, I feel genuinely sorry him as a human being.

no your done....Forrest was never great.......Barrera lost to Jones before reaching his best..........Manny and Marquez are at the end of their careers accomplished alot more at this point than either of those guys at that point in those pics.

Its like you guys are beliitling Marquez's accomplishments and he is a three weight champ current lightweight champ and future hall of famer, went 24 rounds back and forth with Manny....in Marquez entire career he has only been clearly beaten by Floyd Mayweather

Styles make fights. Someone can rank higher than someone H2H but rank lower PFP.

Can't be denied. JMM possibly cherrypicked Diaz for a rematch but he fought and ko'd a better version so that can be forgiven plus that's one fight opposed to Pacquiao whose fights post-Marquez mainly consist of cherry picking.

Good thread. Pacman just struggled with the style. The first fight he was so reliant on his left it was shocking. His physical gifts were/are his advantage. In the second fight the cut was very nasty.

I scored the first fight for Pacquaio the second for Marquez.

Damn shame its on primetime. Although I can see a finish inside 4rds for the congressman.

thats fantasy stuff....the facts are both went 24 back and forth rounds with each other, both are multiple weight champs and future hall of famers....he is not much greater than Marquez...since fighting Marquez all his opponents were either shot(ODLH, mOSLEY)not great(Clotty, Diaz) or got dominated in a fight or two before manny decided to fight them(Cotto, Margarito, Hatton) thats not impressive man..he was won more title trinkets is the only difference between them...since fighting moving up past 130 he has fought big names past their best thats not great

i agree Manny has been cherrypicking since MAARQUEZ GAVE HIM HELL, as far as Manny being much greater....i disagree he should be rated higher but not much greater is exaggeration considering Marquez has been a top tier p4p fighter for a decade and a three weight champion future hall of famer

Seriously, if you're gonna' be that harsh on judging someone's resume, I can't imagine there being a boxer alive that's worthy of your praise. Not even the man in your avatar.

I agree with your premise and conclusion but not with some of your reasons.

    1) marquez, by my cards has only ever lost to pac (x2) and floyd.

    2) in his fights with pac he lost only (on my cards) by virtue of today's scoring system, scoring by rounds he goes 1-0-1 with pac.

    3) despite being a great victories, the clottey and oscar from those nights were ****. Despite being a good victory, the margo from that fight was ****. I'd expect juan to edge both of them.

That being said I don't really believe that's your point. The point is, I think this is where we do agree, regardless of my scoring the fights v freddy and chris, juan still struggled for moments in them fights and this is during his absolute prime, same with past prime mab and casa.

By contrast in pac's prime he obliterated all who stepped in his way. He had broke free as a p4p star against mab 1, reinvented himself as p4p elite against jmm 2 and catapulted himself into superstardom against oscar. From the rematch victory over jmm onwards, pac has cut a swathe through the ww division cleaning house in floyd's absence. This is a man weighing the same as jmm but finding much better success against much better opponents.

So in short, I completely agree :good

Pacquiao is obviously greater, he is obviously more comfortable at the higher weights & IMO will be better on the night at this stage vs JMM on saturday night BUT when both were more on even terms pacquiao never proved superiority over JMM in 2 fights.... I never scored the 1st fight personally but nobody won clear, a draw seemed ok, I did score the 2nd fight & that was a Marquez victory on my card.

This victory will be even more worthless & pointless than mayweather`s win over Marquez because both pac & floyd are legit WWs right now but Marquez is 2 years older... only a biased fanboy will credit pac & discredit mayweather for a win here.

Roach himself has said numerous times that JMM hurt Pac on multiple occasions.
