I don't get it. They did everything: signed the contracts, promotional tour, etc. So I guess they did all of those prematurely since Margarito has yet to get a NY license?

    This is good for Cotto.

    Well, kind of.

Good in the sense that beating Martirosyan is more of a sure thing for him IMO, whereas the Margarito rematch had me favoring Cotto but anxiously. (lots of questions still lingering about how much the possible illegal hand wraps had to do with his fate last time, and how much was just encountering someone who had his #).

Plus, he'll gain some positive support for having been willing to take on the rematch and then being let off the hook through no fault of his own. As long as he beats VM - and I'd be quite confident of him doing so, in all honesty - he comes off smelling like a rose.

Of course, the win over Martirosyan - while maybe the better actual win at this point in time (just a better fighter than Margarito right now, but strictly due to styles easier for Cotto) - won't bolster his legacy quite like avenging the loss would have.

    Risk/reward. :conf

That would be a tremendous disappointment. (nothing against Matirosyan of course.)

I'm looking foward to Cotto-Margarito and would be disappointed if Martiroysan steps in, though in fairness thats not a bad fight either. I wonder if Top Rank has been worried some about this for a while and thats the reason Martiroysan turned down Angulo. I'd imagine the fight gets done, Top Rank has a lot invested in it already.

Top Rank must have cleared it with someone before doing all the arrangements. Must have had a change of heart on the eye issue. Can't another state licence it. Then the tickets have been sold for an event in NY. Maybe a small payment wil resolve matters

Crazy if it doesn't happen after all the promotion, ticket sales and everything. I would be PISSED if I had planned on going to that fight. Now I in no way believe Margo should be prizefighting anymore, but I'm not dumb. Boxing fans want this fight, and if it doesn't happen it will be BAD overall.

Cotto v vanes is much more credible.

However i'm a sucker for hype (even in mismatches like this) and can't wait to see THE REMATCH.

grudge/rematches are what fights are truly all about...

forget money, forget ranking & positioning...

these two guys have something to prove to each other and it needs to be settled - this is makes it a legit fight and peeps wanna see who comes out on top - this is what makes fighting so attractive...
