lets be honest pac is a force of nature and its obvious that the odds favour him! and yes he has improved! but i think alot is made of it. hes learnt to use the right hand and footwork ect. But you cant tell how good these improvements are really when you break down his opposition. As good as the fighters were he faced none of them really were a sharp accurate counter puncher on the same level as marquez. Most of them where come forward fighters or in clotteys case a stand still fighter! If Marquez was a bit younger and fresher id have no problem in backing him 100 percent. But ultimately yes pacs speed and power will probably be too much! But what if ..........:smoke
What does "hasn't improved that much" mean? Hasn't improved to what extent? I'd agree if you said the improvements that he's made have been overstated, but the refinements that he HAS implemented are more than sufficient enough to put it on Marquez, actually finding a right hand, become excellent and among the best in the sport at fronting and setting traps to name a couple. Added to that the fact that it's Marquez moving up in weight again, the weight where he was awful and more sluggish than we've ever seen him, and that he's further away from the fighter he was in the rematch than Pacquiao is, battering Katsidis after the 3rd aside, it's been quite a long time since he looked like the fighter he was.
thats a better way of putting it really! Dont get me wrong the transformation is great but i do think its overstated. Pac has alot of flaws that havn't been improved but with the few refinements that have been made plus his natural speed and power has made him dominate recent opposition. However the opposition while still amazing achievements are very explainable and i wouldnt put it down to pac "becoming a completely new and improved fighter" Its things like hes found a right hand. That isnt amazing most top boxers are two fisted fighters! What is amazing is how he got away with being a one handed fighter for so long by just being a complete force of nature! i also dont think iv seen pac set traps in fights??? HOWEVER do not think im pac bashing cos im a huge fan of his! I just love looking at things from a different point of view. And while he and his achievements are amazing and will almost certainly win again ..... he aint GOD like some people think. And Marquez might just remind us of that again! Or Pac will K.O him inside 4 one or the other
I disagree 'Pab. Although Marquez's legs have looked increasingly stiff post-Manny II, I think he has made the adjustment to punch more rather than to step back and counter, and I think we've seen the best of his composite punching abilities since he has been forced to trade more. I think his Lightweight tenure has been the best of his career. Banging out bigger guys, impressive. His chin and powers of recovery are clearly still on point as well. I considered it an ill-advised decision to try and chase Pacman when he moved up to fight Casamayor, but he keeps demonstrating his brilliance even though the quickness of his movement has clearly slipped. Although I do agree with you that all the above does not make him match up as well with Pacquiao as he used to ;-) I just think the decline of his physical attributes have forced him to put on more decisive performances. I think with how JMM and Manny are now, this will be fireworks for as long as it lasts, but I see Manny banging him out at some point.
The majority pick Pacquiao to win this and I am with them .... However, and I haven't really thought seriously about this until this morning ... What if Juan Manuel Marquez actually DOES beat Pacman tonight !!! :yikes Guys how would this affect the Boxing World? What would it compare to and how would it affect each fighters Legacy and standing in the Sport? And would it mean a FOURTH fight ....
What would it compare to Flea? Considering Marquez arguably won the previous two fights, would this be unique?
My brain doesn't compute me trying to drag out a piece of trivia like that at the moment I'm afraid :good But it would be a massive upset no doubt, considering what most peoples perceptions of this fight is. I think for as long as it lasts, Marquez will land more effective punches than any of Mannys Welterweight comp' in the last few years. I just don't think he'll be as able to withstand the pressure as the bigger guys this time around. He still has the timing, precision and nuance to pick his spots and find openings as Manny comes at him like a buzzsaw. I think Pac is less likely to get buzzed or knocked around this time though, he looks a lot stronger without draining.
Of course, I wasn't trying to incinuate anything else :thumbsup. Conte is a bad man with a bad mouth :deal
Insinuate all you want, and regardless of what Conte or anyone says, the above pictures show very little change in Manny....other than the fact he's now completely hydrated.
