He's obviously gonna play on the showman thing, which is fair dos, if not a bit cheesy, good performance though, nice jab in particular, although he doesnt look to have the strength of his old boy yet
Difficult to judge him there...was my first time seeing him box.. Hell of a lot to live up to and opponents like that won't allow any fighter to look good.
you guys are being over critical First pro fight, of course the standard wont be great. Eubank jr hasnt had a pro fight himself so any pro fighter who can punch back is a good enough opponent If hes fighting opponents of that standard going in to his tenth pro fight (like khan or harrison), then its time to criticise
if he waasnt who he was and we watched that performance we would say he looks okay, but just that, average, no real power but a decent jab and is obviously in great shape, he will get all the help, sparring and breaks he needs so good look to him
I thought he had a decent variety of punches. He looked good for a 1st fight. On the stopage I would see it as the ref making sure a journey man doesn't take much punishment. He earned his money, he's not there to be assasinated.
Punishment? the guy was taking the vast majority of punches on his gloves and arms. I wasn't that impressed, after the hype. He didn't seem to know how to break down a standard high guard. This is a guy with 17 loses! I think young Eubank was saved the emabarrasment of going the distance against someone he was expected to brush away. A TKO reads a lot better than going 6 in your debut against a can. The entire show was crappy.
