Wonder how vegas residents feel about building a stadium for this fight. This fight NEEDS to be in vegas but not exactly @ mgm grand.
The funny thing is, half the people who are naming other venues besides MGM Grand probably had no other venue in mind besides MGM Grand hosting this fight when it was first announced in 2009. Then once Arum came out and named other sites, people jumped the bandwagon and started saying, "hey it doesnt have to be MGM Grand or even Las Vegas." :blood No one thought it'd be anywhere but MGM Grand till Arum opened his mouth.
So let me get this straight. Arum has a problem with the venue that his fighter is fighting in tonight!?
:think More is less in the land of *****... and logic goes right out the window... Like why would the Greatest of All Time fighter to have ever stepped foot in the ring would need a test in the first place... :huh:smoke
Now that I got my rant out of the way lets throw some REALITY into this thread. Money is the driving factor as far as where this fight will be held. It will go to the highest bidder. Simple as that. If you think Bob Arum is thinking "I wanna put this fight in a place where the common man as the chance to see it", I'm telling you now that it's the last thing anyone involved is thinking. The MGM is the top money earning venue for boxing in the country, bar none. And it will take a small miracle if this fight is held anywhere else IN THE UNITED STATES. I personally don't care where its held because I don't plan on going. This is the one fight I plan on watching alone in my man-cave locked off from everything and everyone. I'm just surprised by people's sudden blindness to the earning power of Las Vegas compared to others. It's meant to be there. And Jerry Jones along with others will have to pull a rabbit out of their ass to prevent that from happening. Side Note: And when it comes to boxing match bidding wars, Vegas has a win/loss record comparable to Money Mayweather's boxing record. Vegas will bid themselves into bankruptcy before they allow this fight to go somewhere else. Real talk.
**** Arum and people defending him. Did he forget this 2 years ago? This content is protected http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/12/21/09/mgm-grand-almost-done-deal-pacquiao-mayweather This content is protected http://www.lvrj.com/sports/mayweather-pacquiao-fight-bound-for-mgm-79750342.html
Arum seems like he's looking for a yet another road block if he actually plans on trying for a different venue
This ain't happening outside of Vegas. Vegas has single handily kept boxing alive with the backing of the Casino's and hotels, they aren't letting this much money out of Vegas.
