The Kongo fight. Kongo was throwing straight telegraphed punches and they were landing. I mean we are talking Kongo here......KONGO!!!! Add to the the Lesnar fight; even lesnar tagged him not with power punches but setup punches - slow cumbersome and without power. I wasn't sure if Cain would get close enough but I saw JDS as a prime Liddell in the fight who would dominate with punches and nulify takedowns. I am generally superstitious so I don't excessively debate fights but this is how I saw it.
I was more impressed with JDS fights than Cains fights overall as JDS hasnt looked bad in his UFC career
agree on the Kongo fight. One thing that I saw repeatedly is Cain leaving his chin open, and doing that against JDS Is a bad idea, especially if you try to trade with him.
I picked Cigano because Cain was coming off a long lay-off, and so Junior's superior boxing was always going to be too sharp, too powerful, and too good for a rusty Velasquez. Plus I just think dos Santos is a better fighter, I have seen no weaknesses in him other than lack of urgency to finish fights (Nelson, Carwin). I agree with TS, Velasquez showed clear flaws vs Kongo, and taking advantage of Brock's horrendous standup should never have obscured that.
It was like 21-11 in Dos Santos' favor in the prediction league, and you act like you were the only one that thought he was going to win.
That was my assessment as well. The Kongo fight showed CV could be hit and JDS hits harder than anyone. Thing is, we STILL don't know how his ground game is.
cain is still superior in all aspects but boxing- he needs a boxing coach as he he looks very slow standing up-
