Khan clearly said he had Marquez winning on the cards, and yes he commented he would fight Marquez prior to the official cards being announced.
I enjoyed Cunningham and Haggler's quotes. How many times do fans actually see the fight for what it is when their guy is getting beat. Corruption will always be part of boxing, always has, always will...
"I'm still sitting on my couch in disbelief. Paquiao cannot compete with a counter puncher like Marquez. Juan has the Patience to wait and capitalize on mistakes. I think this shows how superior mayweather is," said De La Hoya as he sat, wearing lingerie and sipping on red wine.
the Champ said that? So true and it's sad. There won't be anything more than all this feudalistic self interest until they do.
Judges should be held to public scrutiny as well. The people should be allowed to vote on the judges via the internet or something prior to fights. There is no reason in today's connected world that we can't exert some influence on the process to keep it somewhat transparent. That won't solve all of it, but we should be much more expressive.
I still think that Pac could have gotten the nod, but the score cards showed the world the fix was in. Once again, Boxing scorecards turn a great close fight into an outrage. It was one of those, depends on what you like fights. As a fan of Pure Boxing? I favored JMM. Pac did however press the action. Pac was the man so you need to really take his strap. Had Marquez been 28 not 38? Pac would have lost.
lol at De La Hoya. What a ******. Pacquiao cannot compete with Marquez? Like their three fights weren't competitive. And then the "This shows Mayweather is superior" cheap shot which was uncalled for. ****ing sad ****
I'm glad alot of people are calling this what it is. The thing is JMM deserved the victory, he was up against everything. The weight, his age, the judges. This really does suck at the absolute minimum he deserved a draw, even then that would have been a robbery but to give him the L? WTF!
I think @MannyPacquiao won that by a single point. Amazing fight. Kudos to both men. WINNER (as I was saying): @MannyPacquiao - right decision. Just because crowd was booing doesn't mean result was wrong. Audience booed me every week on America's Got Talent and I was usually right. Piers Morgan, ****ing *******!
Great thread Let's be honest here everyone knew going in JMM wasn't going to get the nod and he had to basically knock down or knock out Pac to get the win. There's too much money at stake for PBF-Pac. With that said I feel for JMM and sucks he has to be the victim in all this.
There can't even be a case of what you like here, a decisive victory which consisted of one man controlling the other speaks for itself!! Marquez controlled the distance perfectly, Pac was wild, uncoordinated, hit air a hell of a lot. he came forward. That's all pacman had going for him, he came forward, so what!! Marquez did a whole lot more, timed him better, countered, come on!! Wasn't even close. marquez dictated the fight from the second round onwards. Was listening to Khan at the time, and he was willing Pacman to improve, we all know how much he respects and admire's him, as he's always singing his praises, but even he could not make a case for Pacman winning this fight. Disgusting verdict, and you would have to reach VERY hard to find many positives about Pacman's performance. Robbery, END OF!.
I hope you know who you are talking to. Trust me. You don't need to sell me that Pac lost. The same thing that got Pac a win is the same thing that got ODLH a SD against Mayweather. Same reason I feel ODLH didn't beat Whittaker and Jermain Taylor didn't beat Hopkins. Same reason why I didn't feel Wright beat Taylor. Call me old school but a strap is to be taken not won. A lot of those rounds where Marquez dominated, Pac would land one or two very hard shots. Did it negate the ring generalship of Marquez? IMHO no, but to someone who things Punching = Boxing? Maybe. To the people talking about Pac looked wild? Please. Pac always looks wild. Pac looked sharp. Still, looking that good? He was schooled. Tricky thing is he was schooled passively though footwork, positioning, counters, etc... by a man who doesn't really flash while doing it like say a Whittaker or Mayweather. Marquez however showed he is as much of a ring general than anyone though. A MD for Pac with close cards? I could deal with. That BS we saw? The fix was in. Just like it was for Cotto/Clottey. I hope the world now sees the depth to which Arum's filthy tentacles reach. :deal
