JMM isn't solely a counter puncher... watch some of his fights other than against Pac.

When JMM fought Mayweather JMM was the aggressor, how people can say "look what happened when they fought!" when comparing counter punching is beyond me.

You're biased or blind, pick one.

The comment about "swarmer" was mentioning various different styles. Of course Mayweather isn't a swarmer. ****ing hell.

I also think that Mayweather isn't simply a counter puncher. It's part of his game, yes, but it doesn't define his entire style unlike it does Marquez. To call him a "counter puncher" doesn't do him justice, especially his defence. I think he'd either be called a 'defensive boxer' or if you want to be more exact, 'defensive counter puncher'.

  4. Not one of your better moments Jack, this thread alone could make you lose out at next year's Team Elite Awards if you don't jump from this sinking ship and quick.:verysad:lol::rofl

If you think you know so much, then go watch that Mayweather/Marquez fight again. Mayweather was the aggressor several times throughout the fight. Look at the 10th round. Mayweather was clearly the aggressor in that round. He landed something like 38 punches compared to 4 for Marquez. Whether Mayweather was countering or leading, he did whatever he wanted to Marquez.

    Watch rounds 9-10-11 and 12

Mayweather is walking Marquez down and pelting him with combinations. So why doesnt he counter him? :rofl

    You and Jack I swear.

You are an idiot Jack. Especially considering that FMJ is everything JMM is, but bigger, faster, longer reach, etc...

Styles make fights and FMJ is that absolute WORST style for Pac. We have been telling you all along. Now you see that the drug testing was just the issue used to conveniently duck the style.

You're right, mate. I know what I mean but it's not coming out very well, is it? All I think is, is that simply calling Mayweather a "counter puncher" doesn't do his style justice. He's more than that and would be more aptly called a "defensive boxer" or whatever.

...now someone take this spade off me ;)

In other words for 8 rounds TWO THIRDS of the fight Mayweather was the counter puncher then took advantage when JMM tired.

I will clarify, for the MAJORITY of the fight JMM was the aggressor.
Go find me another fight where from the early-middle rounds, against a top opponent, JMM is the aggressor and not primarily a counter puncher.

Exactly, styles makes fight. Anyone that knows boxing knew for years that PAC has trouble with technical boxers. Weather is be Morales, Marquez or Floyd they all have boxing abilities and used it well to have success and if Arum allows PAC to fight FLoyd it will happen again.

    This.

JMM is also better at countering in flurries than Mayweather, and puts his combinations together better (although Mayweather is a better single shot counterpuncher, plus bigger and slightly faster too).

Watch from about the 4th round on. You'll see Mayweather leading and still dominating . Furthermore, turning Marquez into a lead puncher is not easy. If it were, Pacquiao would've done so.

Mayweather walked Marquez down for a third of the fight. He belted him with combinations, pinned him against the ropes and JMM could do nothing. Mayweather had no problem leading early in the fight either. He had no problem getting off first and completely befuddling Marquez.

Like Jack, we ask you to stop.

Mayweather isnt more skilled than Marquez, especially offensively. He's more athlethic, faster, and has better reflexes. But Marquez has far more punches in his arsenal, puts up much more difficult combinations, as far as pure skill goes, i would say Marquez>Mayweather.
