Umm no. Mayweather is more skilled then Marquez. If the only lapse in ability was Mayweathers speed and strength, then Marquez would have atleast been competitive against Mayweather. He wasnt. Mayweather toyed with him. Not only because Mayweather is bigger and faster, but because he is more skilled.

 

The 3 important things that JMM does that makes him so effective vs Manny that Mayweather does not do at all.

1 able to match Pacs volume
2 counter punches in COMBINATIONS (very key) single shot counters never discouraged Pac
3 most importantly he throws when Manny throws (Mayweathers slips/ducks/blocks and then counters)

I can't believe im saying this but im in agreement with Jack here (after his delusional Haye vs Wlad period admitting this makes me feel all ill inside)
Styles make fights, Mayweather could very well beat Pac maybe even easily but not because JMM is succesful, Mayweather never followed that blueprint in his life.

Counter punchers lower their opponents output. Which Marquez does. And its what Mayweather does. As to why Pacquiao isnt as active against Marqiuez as he usually is.


So in summation, anyone who agress with Jack has no idea what they are talking about.

Mayweather did anything he wanted in that fight. When he wanted to counter, he countered. When he wanted to get off first. He got off first. When he wanted to walk Marquez down and give him a beating, he walked him down and gave him a beating.

1 - No need to match volume when you land the FIRST punch and stop the guy from punching
2 - WTF does this even mean? If you stick a guy with a perfect counterpunch the action automatically FREEZES and only one punch is needed NOT a combination. If you are counter punching in combinations that means you have planted and are now EXCHANGING. This is BAD.
3 - Have you ever watched a recent FMJ fight? He punches BEFORE his opponent when he gets the rhythm. Also, Pac's arms are so short that FMJ can touch Pac EASILY if Pac even attempts to punch.

Also on a side note i think Marquez unlike Mayweather actually does anything to NOT stink up a joint so he played the aggressor vs Mayweather which is not his style at all.

The people here that make a case for Marquez maybe being a more skilled counter puncher could be on to something when it comes to pure textbook skill.

Mayweather is obviously a defensive genius with also great counter punching but relies a lot on his natural gifts that JMM does not have.

Mayweather-Marquez fight at that circumstances is totally irrelevant in the discussion. Pure Skill dont win fights. Marquez was too slow, too small, and too unprepared for that fight (no steroids and ****).

Previous 2 fights both had punchstats that far exceeded anything Mayweather has ever done.
Pac does not throw as much because he knows Marquez will match him, with Mayweather once we go passed the 40 a round mark it goes into uncharted terrain for Floyd.
