Does anybody know what they were? :think

I'm very curious to know whether Mike needed the knockout. My suspicion is that he did. Personally I had it close with Alvarado up 86-85 heading into the 10th, but most people in the RBR thread had Prescott ahead by an equally narrow margin (although some had him way up, with a few inexplicably having only given Alvarado one round through nine...) and the commentators also seemed to feel that Alvarado was out of the points race before the final session started.

    The judges:

    Jerry Roth
    Lisa Giampa
    Patricia Morse Jarman

Three very experienced judges...but two of them have turned in some curious cards in the past (hint: neither has external reproductive genitalia!)

He did, I saw that at least two cards were 87-84 in favor of Prescott. Will try to find the link.

For me, the KD evened out the fight. I had Prescott ahead 5-1-3 (one was a draw) . The KO rulling was legit though and Mike deservedly got the win. Alvarado has won me over with this fight.
I disagree with those who say he's not skilled, he's a skilled boxer, just seems to have big time problems with length and getting by a stiff jab.

I also had it close, IB. The commentary was pretty awful on Top Rank. Prescott was visibly fading after the first 3-4 rounds and was getting caught more and more by Alvarado. I'd be lying if I said I saw the knockout coming, but no way did Alvarado need a knockout. Not in my diagnosis. He closed the gap and was controlling the fight at the time of the stoppage.

I would have had it even 4-1-4, but for some reason, Alvarado stepped off the gas in the ninth. A bit like Pacquiao in the 11th and 12th. At that point, I thought the fight was done in Prescott's favor, but maybe the tactics in the ninth were a ploy to get to Prescott in the final round. Risky tactics.

There's a possibility both guys will never be the same after this fight. They've endured so much punishment. Prescott's chin looked to be cracking, which is worrying to see. No doubt, Mike hits like a mule, but fresh iron chinned Prescott would take those punches.

I believe Prescott was winning but probably just barely; Alvarado was closing the gap in those middle rounds after he adjusted. The knockout sealed the deal though.

Great fight. I hope both guys have their profiled raised because of this performance.

Also, maybe Prescott should move up already .

had prescott winning. great fight. fights like this makes me realize sitting in a bar there nothing more than dumb ignorant fans. they said this was a boring fight! and then when timothy bradley and joel casseymayor fought they said why did hbo just get a bunch of amateurs on this card. i said timothy bradley was a champ at 140 who never lost his belt in the ring. his opponent is an olympic gold medalist and future hall of famer. who would you have wanted on the undercard. these fans coudln't name anybody they'd put on an undercard because all they know is mayweather and pac. sometimes watching an espn card and talking to those fans is way more interesting than talking to these fans at big fights.

    Thanks.

So even with a 10-8 round in the 10th had Prescott made it to the final bell, Alvarado would have lost a split decision. :-(

    (95-93, 95-93, and 94-95)

The gap had been closed enough for the knockdown to edge the fight to Mike imo

Classic Prescott in that fight: bangs early and looks great, fades fast after about 4.

Wow, crazy to see some of these cards. I had Prescott up 3 rds going into the 10th, and I was absolutely dumbfounded the way he approached an exhange with his hands at Alvardos side simply BEGGING to be UCd and KDd.

Eith way, he got up, continued to throw, and the stoppage was crap IMO.:|
