I have always been baffled by the majority of Pacquiao fans that refused to give Mayweather ANY credit at all for his masterpiece over Marquez, saying that JMM is ineffective up at these weights etc etc.... but now that the `improved` version of Manny has struggled (badly from what I heard, I never seen the fight) with the same (or likely worse since its 2 years later) version of Marquez, what do you think because in all Marquez career he has only lost once clearly & it was a 12-0 boxing lesson from Mayweather.

Pac fans, as the thread title says, now will you acknowledge just how good Mayweather`s performance was vs Marquez ?

It was an impressive win but not surprising. JMM doesn't have any tools to beat Floyd. They are both counterpunchers. Floyd is the taller, longer, and quicker of the 2. JMM was forced to be the aggressor (and taken out of his comfort zone) in that fight since all Floyd needed to do was jab JMM from a safe distance to win the fight.

JMM's style will always trouble Pac. He is the best at throwing counterpunches in bunches matching Pac punch for punch. Floyd counters 1 punch at a time and then runs back on defense. To beat Pac, you not only have to counter, but also engage much like what Morales did. That is why I think a possible fight between Pac and Floyd will be competitive. Pac has the tools JMM lacks to be competitive with Floyd: hand speed, stamina, power, angles, volume, chin.

And of course Marquez lacks hand speed and doesn't punch in angles. What has made Marquez great, apart from having a warrior spirit, is his speed and punching from different/unpredictable angles. You can't be one of the top counterpunchers of the game without having hand speed.

Marquez beat Pac,and won the fight with the straight right counter,go watch how many fighters Floyd has dismantled with that same punch.

I always thought that was a good win, much better than Floyd's win over Ortiz, for example. Particularly the level of dominance. Doesn't mean there weren't mitigating factors though.

Floyd is the improved version of Marquez. Bigger faster stronger and hits harder. It was a different kind of fight vs Floyd. Manny isnt a tough fighter for counterpunchers to find what they are looking for.

And to the guy that stated Floyd only throws one shot at a time and runs, while if that makes you feel better. Truth is Manny will be in big trouble in a fight vs Floyd, I have said it all along it a huge mismatch in terms of styles. I think the fact that Manny cant even beat a clearly faded Marquez, cuz no matter how much of a Pac fan you are no one can deny that JMM is faded, shows that a fight with Floyd would be difficult to say the least. Roach knows this as does Arum, which is the reason that they were talking about fighting Bradley before the fight and yet a fourth fight with JMM after the fight.

I can admit that I am a ******* and I can also admit that Mayweather would most likely school Pacquiao. I never suggested that PAC would win, but this is entertainment and Pacquiao gives more for your money than Mayweather ever could. I'm not going to turn my back on Manny just because he lost to another great fighter

I'm a fan of both and I think it's perfectly reasonable to think the value of that win has increased a lot NOW. But it was perfectly reasonable not to give it nearly as much value then.

Marquez, who is a counterpuncher. Was the aggresor in the Mayweather fight, not suprising he lost. And Pac has dominated all of Mayweathers previous oponents.

JMM fought in a way he is not effective. He was bloated. Fight should never have happened.

    1: Styles make fights.

2: Marquez might actually be a better fighter now, despite his age.

I'd LOVE to see Marquez - Mayweather II.
Floyd needs to fight the true welterweight champ, and it's not little racoon-face.
