38, several years past his best, made to fight in a weight class he didnt belong, against a prime unstoppable P4P monster who was on a rampage of devastation

Virtually NO one gave Marquez a hope in hell of even surviving nevermind winning

Best victory since Duran > Leonard??

    I'd have to say YES

    He lost i'm afraid.

Not on my card, but at the end of the day you can't have the best win of the decade as a loss, no'm sayin'?

Here's a blatant hijack - what about the performance, how would you rate it in the light of the truisms in the opening post?

    Not quite, I'd rate a few over: Leonard-Hagler, Whitaker-Chavez, Leonard-Hearns, Leonard-Duran 2, Jones-Toney/Hopkins off the top of my head

Rather than get caught up in semantics just rate in terms of performance.

    It's right up there.

Indeed, but McGrain do you ever find yourself wondering what kind of fighter would emerge if we could combine Marquez with ayub Kalule and Marcos Villasana.

Only watched it once but I had it 7-5 or 6-6.

Will be more concrete when I rescore the fight.

Even drawing with pac is a huge achievement for the former lightweight king.
