There's no bandwagon here at all. I believed he was as good as either before last night, and that fight just affirmed it for me.
Outside all his 3 fights with Manny what on his resume can even compare to what those 2 have done resume wise ? Cocaine is a hell of a drug during a fight party
I agree Marquez won but b/c he was so defensive late, it was still too close. Morales gave Manny an absolute clinic. This is complete bandwagoning right now. Morales will always be the best Mexican of the 3.
Yeah, MAB was terrified of the guy who lost to Freddie Norwood and Chris John. It was keeping him awake at night. Yawn. Change the station.
It's not me leaving him out, I rate him as highly as Morales, but look at the replies and the poll, others seem to be. Just replying to that.
He certainly has better longevity but maybe thats because Morales & Barrera were fighting elite fighters from very early on & Marquez started later... he seems to match up to Pac stylewise very well & if he had got the decision last night (I never seen the fight) he certainly has a strong argument for being rated over both.... lets be real tho, Morales past his own prime beat the same version of Pac that floored JMM 3 times in 1 round en route to a draw, everyone knows EM was past it when Pac stopped him in the 2nd & 3rd fights... a past prime Barrera was able to last the distance vs Pacquiao to. Marquez is able to compete with Manny because he is still an elite fighter... does anyone seriously think that if Morales & Barrera were still elite fighters they also couldn`t compete with Pacquiao ?.... the 3 Mexicans are all on the same level abilitry wise, its up to each fan individually who they prefer & how they rank each mans career, for me, there is not a lot in it & no answer is definitely a wrong answer. Morales is the greatest Mexican since Chavez IMO but to each their own. :good
He gave him a clinic in the first fight, sure. But Marquez fought an improved Manny. Not as improved as some Pacquiao fans would have you believe, but he's better than the Manny that faced Morales in the first fight.
Well he Marquez likely is the ring general against Morales like Raheem was and to a lesser extent MAB and Espadas. It would be a fascinating contest. Granted MAB turned pro earlier, JMM fought his first world champion in '97, Barrera in '95. Norwood who he faced in 99 was absolutely elite and JMM fought plenty of tough contenders in the interim. Barrera did have more wars though granted
Last night's domination of the fighter that whooped MAB, and made him fight to survive in the rematch.
Well he beat John for most people who actually you know SAW THE FIGHT and arguably beat Norwood. Barrera feasted on shot Kelley, blown up shot Tapia and blown up Ayala.
By the way, professional debuts : Barrera 1989 (Late Novemeber) Marquez 1993 Morales 1993 The difference is practically only 3 years. JMM is still fighting at an Elite level and they're not because he's a better technician and more intelligent in the ring than Morales or Barrera.
He has had 3 close fights with 1 common opponent and that makes ranks him higher than Barrera ..Yeah Ok .I think you should watch some more boxing..Oh and let me know who's the last prime hall of famer JMM ever beat !
The Mexican rivalry and Morales' peak physical attributes would force the fight into the trenches, in my opinion. That's a fight I would favour EM to win. More importantly, MAB had over 20 fights under his belt before JMM had even fought his first professional fight. To overlook this when discussing each fighters longevity would be outrageous. Staggering. MAB had also fought Morales twice, Jones twice, Naseem Hamed and Manny Pacquiao long before JMM had even fought the Filipino for the first time. I understand that Gainer and Norwood were very good fighters, difficult to defeat, but they weren't the offensive forces that MAB had routinely come up against. Again, to overlook this when discussing each fighter's level of longevity would be a massive oversight.
