Foreman vs Lyle or Dempsey vs Firpo? Imo i prefer Dempsey vs Firpop as it was just one hell of a wild fight it was like something you would see outside a nightclub on a friday night and full of knockdowns also when Dempsey went threw the ropes was awsome. Both great fights probz going to watch Foreman vs Lyle again soon.
Foreman-Lyle simply because Luis Firpo blowed. I've seen more skill in a backyard school fight than that guy shows. Lyle-Foreman was two monsterous fairly skilled fighters going to war.
Foreman-Lyle was much more even, the technique was better, you had better quality from both contestants, you even have better footage. Foreman-Lyle is the best heavyweight slugfest that I know of.
Dempsey-Firpo because it exposes the legend for his lack of, I won't say still, but class or polish in the ring. Ferocious, yes, but lacking in ability that a goony, uncoordinated, unschooled pretender like Firpo could wage an all-time classic with Dempsey. If there was not film, we'd go by written accounts and conclude that this was a classic between two warriors of the ring instead of an embarrassment of pathetic proportions.
I agree, Foreman-Lyle is better than Dempsey-Firpo. However, Moorer-Cooper gives it a run for the money as best HW slugfest ever.
Dempsey-Firpo was wilder but Firpo is one of the worst fighters I've ever witnessed on film. So Foreman-Lyle for that reason. A great slugfest.
Much of the Dempsey vs Fripo film has been edited out. I agree with you that Fripo lacked skills on film, but can you admit the same for Ketchel who looks just as bad as Firpo does
Foreman-Lyle. It lasted longer, had better finish, and was more evenly contested. It was also never farcical.
both were sloppy as **** and personally i don't like either. the skill and drama of hobos fighting over a ham sandwich at the YMCA
