People just have a hard time accepting the fact that styles make fights. One guy can give another guy hell, and have the same thing happen to him the next fight. It's the reason why a c-level fighter like Michael Katsidis can put JMM on his ass yet Pacquiao was not able to last night. Does that mean Katsidis is superior to Pacquiao?

The only similarity between Floyd and JMM is that they are defensive fighters. JMM goes about his work in way that almost totally neutralizes what Pacquiao is doing ,whereas Floyd does things that could potentially give himself problems against Pacman; namely walking back/forth in straight lines, planting his feet when he goes defensive, locking up behind a shell, running back /fleeing when he gets hit instead of returning fire , only throwing single punches instead of combinations, less body work then JMM , etc.

When it comes to styles, JMM is to Pacquiao as Frazier was to Ali. He'll always give him hell.

Marquez has gotten the best of Pac in three different divisions(definition of PFP) and for a span of about 7 years.

You just can't accept that JMM is better than Pac.

Mayweather will beat the brakes off of Pacquaio. He is bigger, has more reach, and height than Marquez, he punches harder than Marquez, he is faster than Marquez, he has better defense than Marquez, he is more fluid than Marquez, he has better feet than Marquez. While I agree that saying fighter A did well against fighter B, so fighter C would beat fighter B, isn't a valid argument. Mayweather simply has too much for Pacquaio, and I am not basing that on Marquez just giving Pacquaio the business. Mayweather would punish Pac something serious.

Marquez beats Pacquiao because Pacquiao consistently runs into Marquez jab. Utter nonsense. Mayweather showed it in the Hatton fight and Baldomir fight. He typically shows this against opponents who are relentless pressure fighters. Against the fighters Mayweather has been fighting lately, guys who basically try to box with FLoyd, i.e Ortiz, Marquez and Mosley he has had to employ very little lateral movement if any because his defense is enough to carry the day. There is a reason Mayweather haters used to refer to him as Mayrunner. Because he was quite adept at boxing off the back foot. INfact Mayweather is much better fighting backwards then Marquez is. As he showed nonwhen he beat Marquez up at many points fighting going backwards, whereas Marquez could not offer any decent aggression against Mayweather similarly going backwards.

Oscar had 3 inch height advantage over Mayweather. 10lb weight advantage. And it was Floyds first and only fight at 154. Also add into the fact Oscar has one of the greatest jabs in boxing history where Pacquiao barely has a jab at all.

Nonsense comparison. Not only is Oscar far more skilled then Pacquiao and bigger then Pacquiao, his defense is far better. He wsa picking off Mayweathers punches making it difficult for Mayweather to mount an offense.

Pacquiao on the other hand defense is basically his face. Ala busted ear drum vs Cotto. Beaten housewife face vs Clottey. Ect.

In reality all you have to ask is one question. How does Manny close the distance on Floyd? He could not do it against Marquez. I wonder why? I wonder what Mayweather would do to keep the "jabbing" physical monster who imposes his size and strength like ODH did on Mayweather. How does Pac close the distance and get Floyd to stand there and get punched instead of simply backing up and popping him in the mouth with a pull right hand counter same as Marquez did but faster?

Face it, Mayweather turned Marquez into target practice for 12 rounds. Manny needed the most corrupt judges in the sport to get a Majority decision victory.

The OP compared a 160lb 5'10 Oscar de La Hoya. A great technical boxer, with great footwork, great jab, and a very capable defense to.....

Manny Pacquiao.

Lets get real here and see the true facts of what Pacquiao has become.

Be real here. Pacquiao is a physical marvel that feasts on opposition that stands right in front of him.

Use what is called "BOXEO" and do so at a high level.
.....and Pacquiao might as well be thrown into that ring with blinders on.
This was so evident last night against Marquez.

Dont come in here pretending that the Marquez we saw last night was anywhere near prime.
He was well past it, and although not slow, he was nowhere near as quick or fast as he'd been in his previous fights with Pacquiao.

Marquez boxed the pants of Pacquiao being sneaky quick, and by using his vast superior level of ring boxing skill to make Pacquiao look like a rank amatuer.

You're a fine poster Boga, but enough of this ****.
Skillwise and knowing how, Mayweather is on the same level Marquez is.......and to boot he has all the physical advantages over Pacquiao that Marquez does not have.

Mayweather-Pacquiao is a joke of a matchup.
....for the sake of you *******s, I would believe that there is'nt anyone on team Pacquiao that reallly wants that fight.

I view Pacquiao vs Mayweather as such a mismatch, I think looking as terrible as he will be if he fought Mayweather, Pacquiao whole body of work will be tarnished if he fights Mayweather.

With all the physical advantages Mayweather has over Pacquiao, I'm convinced Pacquiao would'nt lay a glove on Mayweather and Mayweather would toy and hit Pacquiao with shots at his leisure.

Mark this post if it ever happens. Pacquiao will quit mid way through his fight with Mayweather and with good reason.......Pacquiao will be made to look like a little child in there trying to learn to walk.

How anyone that seriously knows boxing can seriously make a case for Pacquiao to even be competitive against a near prime Mayweather is well beyond comprehension.atsch

Like most pac supporters on this site you pick and choose what to pay attention to and miss the point entirely. Mayweather uses a different style than Marquez but he also shut Marquez out entirely and is much better physically than Marquez in every metric. The Marquez Pac 3 is more confirmation that May/Pac is still a mismatch.

Pac had problems with the way JMM moved. JMM had a way of rolling with Pac, which I haven't seen a lot of fighter do. Most fighters move the way Floyd or for instance RJJ do.

JMM also had a very effective pattern of throwing punches, not committing the first one, and then really loading on the second punch. This got Pac afraid if the exchanges and therefor he was so cautious.

JMM, this man is 38 ... wow.

Oh I get it.. Pac's new-new right hand is going to land at will b/c Zab counterpunched Mayweather coming in one or two times. SOLD! Even though Marquez just stayed out of range to avoid the right hand all together.
