Hmmm Cotto didn't mention anything to compensate for "not leaving it all in the ring" other than he didn't want to risk his health. He could have mentioned his skills and new found knowledge, hell even the lack of wraps but didn't. Might he take another knee?

He explained. He has kids. He remarked that unlike Tony for him it is his kids and not glory that come first, which is why Margarito is a dead man. All Margarito cares about is giving his best effort and taking a beating if he has to. Cotto is more determined than ever to win this for his kids, so because Margarito's willing to die in the ring Cotto said "You will die this time".

That was my take. It was like he was going to fulfill Margo's wish for him, then go home and eat some rice and beans with his kids.

Interesting interpretation, I understand the notion of winning for his kids, but the mentioning of his family sounded more defensive than anything. If he said "I have family with me, and that alone will bring me to victory" would be one thing, but instead it was "I have a family, why would I risk my health," meaning if it came down to the decision, he would opt for the flight over fight.

Nah, the context in which it came up was him ridiculing Margarito for fighting so stupidly against Pacquiao with his eye all mangled.

He said health comes first, and for him it's not about senseless win-or-die machismo - his family is top priority. Returning safely home to them in good health is paramount. If it's not his day to win, he'll fight another day. In this case, though - he feels it will be his day to win and that Margarito's willingness to absorb stupid levels of punishment will be his undoing.

Make no mistake. Cotto does not intend for this to be a repeat of the first meeting...neither in the result (obviously) nor how it plays out.

Expect no cutie pie boxing. Cotto is going to war, and aiming to hurt Margarito. He wants revenge. He wants this for the $, for his family's future welfare, and for his legacy. Margarito has nothing to lose except what he always does. He hates losing, but he doesn't seem as hungry for this win. He'll hang in there like the tough and stubborn ox he is no matter what Cotto throws at him, no doubt - but he's in for a rude awakening if he thinks he's got a bigger chip on his shoulder or more bad intentions heading into this.

If cotto wins, you think there'll be a rubber match?

If Cotto wins the way I feel he may, a rubber match would seem a little silly (but would probably happen anyway, and be a repeat of the rematch...or worse, look like Marquez-Vazquez IV)

Come onman you know damn well Cotto sound like a scare fighter when he said "Why leaving everything on the line when i have a family, kids? For what the fans?" <<<That's clearly tells me he dont want anymore rough wars at all cause when the going gets tough, cotto cant take it in which he might take a knee again. I dont like the attitude of cotto at all. Already he's worry about his health. A true warrior wont say those things. Would Morales, Barrera, Marquez even say those things? F4ck no.

Really the winner, I feel, should fight Martinez but if Cotto wins I feel Bob will make a 3rd fight and if Marg wins he'll fight Mosley. I wonder if Canelo s team would put him in with the loser :think Guess it all depends on how they look.

You got tunnel vision, man. Cotto's thinking big picture.

You're like those cats who think that taking a knee is such a cardinal sin against all that is good and holy and macho, rather than an effective and intelligent strategy to stay in a fight and maybe come back to WIN.

Cotto is the type of guy who'd take a knee and then come back hard.

Margarito is the type of idiot who would never willingly take a knee, and would not only never get a chance to get back in the fight but would possibly suffer brain damage for his stubbornness.
