Big time mate, that will never change :deal Got a good thread (IMO anyway) lined up for tomo, just to tired to do it after having just 3 hours sleep. feel ****ed EDIT: JPAB EDIT II: such a good bloke Mig
I remember reading somewhere on here earlier that it was the first time that they had seen Pacquiao look clueless as to what to last night, but to be honest I thought he looked that way against Mosley at times, difference is Marquez actually came to win the fight whereas Shane just looked to survive. Also you say 2 bad nights, I think I'm one of the few who thought that he was poor against Margarito as well.
I said it.... yeah he probably did against Shane too but a lot of fighters do when their opponent runs away all night. Even though Marquez is his worst nightmare, at least he's there in the pocket to land on, but Pac was made to miss badly, by miles at times, whereas Marquez usually prefers to catch shots on the less beefy end of the swing. I might get my own Marquez t-shirt, **** it they would only be a tenner.
Obviously it needs to be effective aggression but that's still a wildly subjective criteria. Define effective. You are splitting hairs putting the word effective there IMO. Fact is neither guy landed much so it's lower volume / higher quality against higher volume / lower quality. Still a judgement call and still comes down to preference. And the judges consistently go for volume in those circumstances.
Yeah I did put his bad performance down to Mosley's attitude more than anything else, even if I had a feeling that he was on the decline after the Margarito fight but it was embarrassing watching him at times last night.
Marquez 117-113 in my opinion. Rewatched it on mute and whoever think's Pacquiao won that fight need's to watch another sport. Manny fan's are hiding behind Compubox stat's, yet Marquez landed the cleaner, better shot's and whenever Manny did land anything, Marquez either equalled or bettered it
Its every bit as bad as Lewis v Holyfield Strike. You say the US judges like aggression, Pac 90% of the time wasnt even aggressive, as firstly he couldnt cut off the ring, couldnt read Marquez's feints or shots, and had been tagged hard a few times. Wasnt like he was hitting gloves like Calzaghe used to do, he was impotent in attack! Yes there were close rounds, but I could make a case that Marquez won 11-1, if you gave all those rounds to JMM. I think the 1st was either way, Marquez then won 3/4 in a row, Pac won 5th or 6th, then it was Marquez again, 9-10 were close, the 11th Marquez, and if I split them in the 12th it'd be Marquez too. I cant have it any closer than 8-4, and I thought it was 10-2 last night. The only round Pac won for sure IMO was the 5th or 6th whichever it was.
Compubox is BS, I can see the argument for fans citing it in razor thin fights, whilst not often agreeing with it. In this fight the tactical advantage was clearly in JMM's favour, as was everything else. I just worry that the whole thing will be glossed over due to a desire to see Floyd vs Pac. Realistically though there's little point in a rematch, short of Lacy'ing Pac or knocking him out there's little else JMM can do, having toyed with him for prolonged periods in each of the three fights. The paying public knew who won last night, it wasn't fair that Pacquiao had to be interviewed against a backdrop of boos, a decision defeat wouldn't have been anything to be ashamed of. As it is, it's just a phantom WWE victory.
It's funny that its called Compubox, Yet there's no fancy computer doing the counting, nope, its some lad with a pen and paper.
Compubox is just information so IMHO its not a bad thing. Its shouldn't be a basis on which to score a fight though.
