In their fight, I think Floyd actually took it easy a bit on Marquez.

He just boxed Marquez in the early rds, just sitting back and out jabbing and countering.
I believe if Mayweather wanted, he could have KO'ed Marquez from the 8th rd on.

Most Pac fans will argue about the weight advantage Floyd had over Marquez, but truth be told it didn't matter because Marquez was never in the fight to began with. Considering the fact that Floyd wasn't active for two years and still one every round, is damn impressive. Even if they were the same weight Floyd would of been even faster then what he was when they fought. Styles do make fights, which is why Manny can connect rather well on Marquez because Marquez like to engage. Floyd can engage as well, has better defense accuracy and skill then Marquez. I just don't see how Pac will do much better against Floyd when he can't even handle Marquez.

I'm not a Pacquiao fan but it shouldn't change how Mayweather's win is viewed. The Marquez that fought Pacquiao last night was on a different level (physically) than the chubby version that fought Floyd. This version would not have beat Mayweather, but he would have been more competitive. Mayweather still beat a chubby lightweight and Pacquaio just lost to an in-shape lightweight.

Mayweather would probably have won just as easily had he honored the catchweight, we'll never know though. For a full-fledge welter to have 4lbs on a lightweight moving up two divisions, I'm not surprised he was able to toy with Marquez. Mayweather's own actions are what caused this to get entirely discredited. Similar to how Castillo gets little credit from me for the KO of Corrales coming in as basically a JWW. Had he honored the catchweight and whooped Marquez at the same weight Pac fought him at it would be looking like a very good win today.

No mention of marquez having not grown in to the weight yet or mayweather being much bigger huh ? all conveniently forgotten ? as far as i am concerned manny just underperformed let us not forget he is human i put it down to a bad day at the office. He is still fully capable of ko ing mayweather.

No point trying to explain to noobs that floyd was comfortable and fast in the jmm fight and jmm was slow due to weight gain even the trainer and jmm have told you all why he underperformed against mayweather but you filter it all out as it doesn't suit your view or opinion.

Floyd faster and much bigger than a slow wrongly weight gained jmm doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out JMM had no chance.

Look at it this way Hatton even though eventually ko'd against floyd imo did better against floyd than jmm and would you say hatton is a better fighter than jmm ? so it does add grounds to say that jmm just wasn't sharp and got the training all wrong for mayweather just hadn't got to that weight correctly thus the change in conditioning coach they did it right bulked up and kept the speed.

I've always given Mayweather credit for beating Marquez

but once again styles make fights.

Also, Mayweather IMO has a significant size advantage over Marquez, while Pacquiao doesn't.

The most striking thing for me in the Floyd - Marquez fight was the size difference in the ring. Marquez was too small and too slow.
