i think something else is does no one score bodyshots?
Marquez was landing them throughout the fight yet because they dont have a huge impact aesthetically, perhaps they're not scored as highly as they should.

 

You guys are trying to use logic to understand the scores?

the fake punch stats in addition to the constant audio failings, the extreme bias of hbo's commentary (not surprised), and harold letterman trying to boost everyone's confidence that anything the judges said would be accurate and on point. HBO = bull****

Incompetent judging? Corrupt? The 3 judges that night has decades of work under their belt and are among Nevada's best. These judges have no history of controversy whatsoever. All of a sudden, they are all somehow in cohorts with Arum, Lederman, Compubox statisticians and somehow were able to score the fight similarly in favor of Pac? atsch

None of the Above. American judges favor aggression, Lederman, for example, is biased towards pressure fighters. He had Hatton winning 3-4 rounds against Mayweather based on sheer aggression. The problem some folks have is they think aggression for the sake of aggression = winning rounds:-(

 

caneman, since you ducked my response to you in the dumb thread you started on this very topic, please tell me what you thought of Moretti's scoring in Oscar-Sturm and Trowbridge's in Mayorga-Vargas.

 

It seems more like the main controversy comes from the fact that everyone including the pope, expected Pacquiao to blow Marquez away, and sooner than later. Then when Marquez does so much better than anticipated, the spontaneous innate reaction is to give him extra credit instead of remaining cool headed.

The same thing happened in the Hopkins-Pascal fight where most hoped for Hopkins to do well but expected Pascal the young lion to retire him. When Hopkins was doing so well, he automatically got more credit coming his way...

It's like a natural reaction to support the underdog in our calls, even if we try to remain unbiased.

I only had the opportunity to watch the first 6 rounds, but from those 6 rounds, the fight was extremely close and I had Pacquiao winning 4 of those 6 rounds.

I think Mayweather probably regrets now not taking care of Pacquiao earlier. We probably could have had two record breaking PPV fights by now, if it wasn't for all the unnecessary circus. For the record, if the fight is ever made, Mayweather clearly outskills Pacman and finally solidifies his impressive legacy.
