I understand what you're getting at, but I think that's a very unfair on Marquez, who is ten times the fighter of either Norton or Barkley.
Doesn't that prove the point even more. If lesser fighters then Marquez didn't tarnish Ali and Hearns' legacies, why would it Pacquiao's?
I was reading it more as Marquez' career simply amounting to him being a stylistic nightmare for Pacquiao, when it is clearly so much more.
Manny Pac is not a great welterweight, his welterweight career has been a load of...?? Clever Catch Weights to drain the **** out of his opponents. First off it was Oscar De la Hoya at 145..? which was Oscar De La Hoya's own fault for being cocky. Then many people bang on about the Ricky Hatton fight...? 140..? that it was complete dominance. There was nothing technically that showed me that Manny Pac was some technical genius. Anybody! could of been knocked out in that Fight.!! Ricky Hatton was competitive, and simply just got caught..! It was just a stupid ******ed wild fight. Complete and utter ******ation from both guys.... "Manny Pac just simply landed his wild punches, Hatton had him hurt with body shots and left hooks" Then there was Miguel Cotto at 145..? 146..? those extra 2 pounds, when your already struggling to make the weight at 147..? when your already draining out and at a lean bodymass, is very detrimental for health and performance. Did this affect Miguel Cotto's performance..? of course it did. Then there was Antonio Margarito at 150..? i honestly think at 154, Antonio Margarito would walk down and bully the **** out of Manny Pac. He was a weak man that night, and still inflicted violence on Manny Pac. "Manny Pac was damaged for weeks after the fight..? This may be the reason why he look so **** vs JMM" Clottey...? Could of won against Manny Pac if he put more effort in...! In my opinion, too big, too strong, too legit. "He laughed at Manny Pac's power, proper buzzed off him" I just think they have been really smart with Manny Pac, and made clever match making. Floyd Mayweather will beat Manny Pac easy, in any fashion he wants. If they ever fight....? Floyd will win via beatdown and TKO.....and he will hardly drop a round....!!!

Was Muhammad Ali ill when he fought Ken Norton or something..? did he have some kind of terminal illness..? what's your point with the prime reference..? He wasn't 45 years old. Muhammad Ali trained and got in shape three times against Ken Norton and in my opinion Ken Norton for sure beat him twice!!! and one fight could of went ether way. During the second fight, people seemed to be in fantasy land because Muhammad Ali was lean as ****, and was dancing..? although Ken Norton was still landing the harder shots. Muhammad Ali looked weak during the second fight probably due to the ******ed ways of boxers back then and nutrition. You cannot go around discounting loses, fair enough if fighters are 45 years old..? or suffering with some kind of illness yes..? but if there still in the thick of there career, and they still make the requirements to prepare to fight..? Then it does affect legacy..!! Muhammad Ali prime is misunderstood anyway, i preferred 1970-1975 Muhammad Ali, more durable, more game, more bad, more black...........more legit!
Terrible analysis, absolutely terrible. He destroyed Hatton. Cotto and (especially) Margarito were both comfortable at those weights too, having campaigned most of their careers much lower. The Clottey 'analysis' isn't even worth commenting on.
Castillo won the first IMO, and had more case for claiming a robbery than Marquez has in any of the Pac fights.
