I think having Marquez as #1 is reasonable. Despite the loss to Mayweather, he's defeated better fighters than Floyd has in recent years. A clear win over Pacquiao, and stoppages over Casamayor, Diaz and Katsidis trumps a decision over Mosley and a KO over Ortiz IMO. I wouldn't object to someone having Floyd as #1, but it's more presumptuous than it is proven.
Mine hasn't changed but then again I never had Pac at no.1, I also scored the fight a draw but I may rewatch as I feel I may have been influenced by HBO. Floyd Pacquiao JMM W Klit B Hop
But Mayweather absolutley dominated him. Pacquiao and Marquez records may be better but not so much so that Mayweather complete domination of Marquez should be discounted.
You aren't wrong, like I said there's a fair case for making Mayweather the #1 at present, and more of a case now for rating his win over Marquez than there was previously. Even if Mayweather fights and beats Pacquiao, the win won't carry as much as it would have done, because of the events at the weekend. Obviously Marquez is a different stylistic matchup to Mayweather, but for perhaps the first time I'd now make him a solid favourite against Manny, who's improvements were either overstated all along or have waned in the past 12 months - perhaps a combination of both. One thing I will remain certain of is that the three ''let's be friends and kiss'' fights blunted his edge. By the time he got going against Marquez on Saturday he was way behind on any sensible scorecard.
It doesn't matter for me that Mayweather dominated Marquez. The size difference on fight night was huge, whereas on Saturday Marquez was the bigger guy. If Mayweather jumped up two weight classes and was dominated by Kessler, would that make Kessler p4p number 1?
