Being a great counter puncher doesn't equate to being a good defensive fighter, much less a defensive master.

Hatton has always had fast feet so that stop him from being a slow come forward fighter and Cotto and Marquez foot speed may be equal but only difference is one a counter puncher and the other isn't.

 

The experts and fans don’t seem to buy the judges’ decision in the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez fight Saturday in Las Vegas.

Six of 12 boxing writers at ringside scored the fight for Marquez, six had it a draw and none had Pacquiao winning, according to a poll conducted by Golden Boy Promotions’ publicist Bill Caplan. Plus, Ron Borges, who covered the fight for RingTV.com, scored it for Marquez. And The Associated Press had it a draw 114-114.

In the current RingTV Poll, almost exactly half (49.9 percent) had Marquez winning, 29.7 scored it for Pacquiao and 17.5 scored it a draw. Another three percent did not declare a winner.

As of 3:30 p.m. PT Sunday, 5,929 had voted in the poll. The question was straight forward: How did you score the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez fight? And eight options were given: Pacquiao 117-111, Pacquiao 116-112, Pacquiao 115-113, draw 114-114, Marquez 117-111, Marquez 116-112, Marquez 115-113 and other.

Almost one quarter (24.3 percent) of the voters scored it 115-113 for Marquez. A similar percentage (22.3) had Pacquiao winning 115-113.

However, the next highest percentage (20.5) scored it 116-112 for Marquez while 17.5 had it a draw. Only 5.1 percent had Pacquiao winning 116-112.

The officials judges scored it this way: Robert Hoyle 114-114, Dave Moretti 115-113 for Pacquiao and Glenn Trowbridge 116-112 for Pacquiao.

Golden Boy was not involved in the promotion of the fight.

 

You're just being silly now, you put forth an article you clearly agree with and made no disclaimers like 'while I may not agree with everything said I think this is a good article' instead you posted it up and said "thoughts" and what you got in return was thoughts by people telling you the article was utter shite and now you're all upset because people are attaching the opinions in the article (you endorsed) to you, gee I wonder why. :roll:

 

I hate this aggresion stuff to, sure it can be a factor but what about ring generalship. It was marquez imo that was dictating the pace, was fighting on his terms. At times pac was just walking forward he didnt cut the ring off. now cutting the ring off effectively against the guy who's suposedly backing up the whole time would be effective agression

 

Using compubox is silly cause Ike Quartey would throw a rocket jab that just gets counted as a mere jab while someone like Malignaggi can throw a overhand right and it get counted as a "power punch".

Most effective punches were landed by Marquez while Pac seemed content to just make contact with no real sting at times.

 

Uhh, which fight are you referring to? Certainly not last Sat night.

You should have stated as such in your original post, all you did was highlight some parts in red to place emphasis on them but asides from that there was nothing to suggest you disagreed with anything that was said in the article so you're outburst@lufc who is a sound and fair poster (unlike the vast majority of the general forum) is quite ridiculous IMO.

 

I was talking about the opinions stated within it, you should have stated there's some stuff you don't agree with.

Forums all around the Philippines are now flooded with "JMM won" threads by people who suddenly became boxing experts overnight.

It's largely because they always thought Pac would demolish every competition placed in front of him, they can't accept that this is a win for Pac.

So yeah, it does hold some water at least on that regard.

 

Pac was the aggressor but that doesn't mean anything when he isn't landing with anything meaningful. JMM slipped 95% of Pacquiaos shots and countered with his own 2-3 punch combinations.

Pac looked disheartened after 4 rounds and simply didn't do anything to mix it up. Its just a shame this fight ended this way as now it looks as though the Floyd fight just wont happen now. Pac and Arum didn't look too comfortable answering about a possible Mayweather fight in May. I scored this Fight 9-3 to JMM.
