I think you missed my point entirely. Marquez repositioned his feet as Pacquiao threw the punch, this particular strategy was to get inside Pacquiao's jab, whilst at the same time changing the angle up. The gif highlights the clash of stances, and that stepping on/tripping over each others lead foot happens when orthodox and southpaw clash. Nothing in that gif shows that he would intentionally step on Pacquiao's foot to gain an advantage/keep him off balance.

The same way orthodox and southpaws can clash heads regularly. Same goes for offensive vs counterpuncher. Throw all of this in the mix and you can see why it happens.
