Enjoy (if you can. Really heart-wrenching expressions from Marquez here, especially if you understand the language.)

    (Part 1)

(A summary of the fight is given before the 1:07 mark, where the interview starts.)

Announcer Dude: Before anything else, congratulations Juan Manuel, because you gave an extraordinary fight. And we want to hear your conclusions; it was a very difficult fight but I congratulate you personally, Juan, because you fought a marvelous fight.

JMM: Well thank you. I think that, as I’d said before, I interpret in silence again…the judges…all the people, somehow, thought that he was going to knock me out, that what he was going to do was one-sided, but I prepared myself very well, very concentrated on the fight, and I repeat again that the people are the best judge of every fight.

Announcer Dude: What was the most difficult thing that Manny Pacquiao presented to you? Where did you feel comfortable? The combinations entered cleanly. You moved him, you dispositioned him, we saw an erratic Manny Pacquiao- did he ever get to hurt you in any moment Juan?

JMM: Actually the great preparation that we did…he connected twice solidly and I didn’t feel it. I think that great preparation helped me, and some way I feel that we did great work inside the ring. We landed the better power punches. We implemented a boxing of lateral steps because he’s a fighter who feints and then comes forward, and so we took away his control of the distance. I think that that was very important, and the speed as well, because there were occasions where I connected with combinations of 3 or 4 shots with speed.

Announcer Dude: Juan, your career is full of deceptions. Once again, a fight escapes your hands, not because you left something undone but because someone else decided it to be so. The fight with Chris John, the two previous ones with Manny, close ones…and what we all think and believe is that you possibly won them; surely you won them. But now it’s a lot of deceptions that exist in professional boxing, and Juan Manuel, the only clear loss is with Floyd Mayweather.

JMM: I think these types of deceptions makes one think of whether or not he should continue.

Announcer Dude: It’s completely demotivating, demoralizing.

JMM: Yes, demoralizing. Why? Because I’ll tell you that all of the work of 18 years, all of the work of 4 months, to be focused, to forget of your family, to forget that you have a child, that you have a wife, that you have a world, since one dedicates himself and trains…I think they destroy it.

Announcer Dude: Bob Arum already spoke about a possible fourth confrontation. Do you think Nacho that it can be done? Would you want it Juan?

JMM: Well take note that…what is there left to do? There have now been three fights with him. What do we have to do? Half-kill him? Leave him there laying in the ring? And if that doesn’t happen and we give another great fight, we conduct a great display of boxing, and we win again, and another decision for him? I’ll end up killing myself.

Elderly Announcer Dude: You demonstrated that you were better. You fought very well; almost perfect, if we can’t say perfectly. Pacquiao is a great boxer, he’s not just any fighter. He’s a great boxer, one of the best in the world Pound for Pound. Juan, you’re at the peak as one of the best in the world. What’s next?

JMM: I think that (I’m) better than him. Because I’ve demonstrated it. Better than him. But this type of thing…it’s a grand disillusion and I think that this is worse than a gunshot here to the temple (chuckles).

Elderly Announcer Dude: No don’t say that, don’t say that.

JMM: It’s worse. It’s worse. It’s a disillusion because they take everything away from you…

Elderly Announcer Dude: You aren’t hurt here (points to eyes)?

JMM: No, no. I’m very well. But they take away all of your hope/will to do something, to better your future, to be…that you’re work turns out to be worth it. But three people can tear it down.

    (Part 2)

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjBrnBHfr68[/ame]

Announcer Dude: What do you say to the Mexican Public? What would you say to them in this moment…? You feel bad, it’s deceiving, it’s disillusioning..? What would you say to the public?

JMM: First off to give thanks always as I’ve done for the support, not only in the Republic of Mexico but all of the Mexicans, to the Latinos who have always supported me; thank them. And I think that I’m very happy with what happened in the arena, singing “El Cielito Lindo”, I thank each and every one of them for that support that they gave me.

Announcer Dude: Well Juan Manuel we’re going to let you rest in your moment…don’t leave sad.

Elderly Announcer Dude: Don’t leave sad. If they didn’t raise your hand, we will (raises Marquez’s hand).

Announcer Dude: We’re proud of you as our coworker, as a Mexican fighter; you poured your heart out, and you’re a warrior (studio starts to clap.) You won the fight, we all know it. Congratulations once again.

JMM: Many thanks. I’m happy for the gesture but I’m sad from this decision. Let’s see what happens.

Elderly Announcer Dude: Have spirit, have spirit.

Announcer Dude: We’ll wait for you on Golpe A Golpe as always Juan….Juan Manuel Marquez, Lightweight World Champion, and he proved that it is possible to beat Manny Pacquiao. We’ll be back.

(Elderly Announcer Dude is faintly heard again telling Marquez not to leave in a sad state before the broadcast poses a poll question, and the interview then turns to Pacquiao).

Poor Marquez. I felt for him when the decision was annouced. Not because of this single fight alone, but for the past fights as well. The 2nd fight was his victory as well, albiet a lot closer than Saturday. Then he goes on to fight a masterful performance, only to be shot down by the powers behind the scenes.

Nice Bogo...Gracias por postearlo. Its sad listening to how demoralized Juan is and who can blame him. He fought a brave and brilliant fight and after all the hard work he put in is just depressing. 116-112 was ****ing ridiculous.

They just should have given him the decision last saturday, he earned it, now you have a great boxer all suicidal and wanting to retire because he feels so disgusted with the decision.

    You're welcome!

Technically it's my first; learned it as a lil bebe. My parents taught me English when I was about 3 in order to go to school knowing it well. I was born and grew up in the US so my education has given me a wider vocabulary in English, but I can still express myself perfectly in Spanish without Latin Americans detecting any accent. I've always spoken it with my family.

You get the sense just from reading the translation that JMM is significantly more affected by the decision this time around than any other time in his career. He's badly hurt by this.

This was the clearest victory any fighter could have argued for either of them, and the judges gave it to the wrong guy.
