I know Rockys brother Lou very wel and he told me Rockys back was fine he really retired because Al Weil was screwing him badly with the money. He told me that he met Ingo with rocky one night and Rocky was not impressed at all and was offered a lot of money to make a comeback which he actually started training for and was realy into trying. But one day he told his brother that in all honesty he doesnt have that drive anymore for training and the smell of the gym actually made him feel sick.. . the one thing he loved was training and he despised the whole atmosphere now.
'59 Ingo who KO'd Patty for the title was in great shape and a solid decade younger than Marciano..... No way in hell does Marciano beat a '59 Ingo..... Marciano even in top shape is too faded and long in the tooth for his style by '59...... MR.BILL
That's open for debate, Suzie Q.:deal '56 Patty who parked Moore inside 5 rds was very fit at 182 pounds and had the fastest heavyweight hands at that time... Yes, his chin was shaky.... We all know that..... But, does a Nov. '56 Marciano get off with the big punches at that juncture???? :huh:think MR.BILL:hat
Sick or not sick of the gym, the Rock did not have a style designed for longevity and would have gotten his ass handed to him by Ingo in 59.
I'll assume Rocky would be in pretty decent shape. With that in mind... Ingo was a good fighter. He'd be a little taller with a longer reach and a little heavier. He stopped Patterson in 3 rounds to win the HW World title. He knocked Patterson down 7 times in this fight. Patterson stopped Ingo in the 5th of their rematch and in the 6th of their rubber match. Ingo put Patterson down twice in their 3rd fight. Johansson also beat Joe Bygraves (W8 and KO7), Franco Cavicchi (KO13) Henry Cooper (KO5), Archie McBride (W10), Joe Erskine (KO13), Heinz Neuhaus (KO4), Eddie Machen (KO1), and Brian London (W12) among others. He only lost twice, both times to Patterson. 26-2 (17) overall and 1-2 (1) in HW World title fights (all of his HW World title fights were vs. Patterson). Marciano clearly has the better resume but we already knew that. 49-0 (43) overall, 7-0 (6) in HW World title fights, and 6-0 (5) vs. Hall of Famers (Louis, Walcott x2, Charles x2, and Moore). Johansson had very good power but wasn't the most durable HW ever. Marciano also had very good power but he was very durable as well. That's the major difference here and that is why Marciano wins by KO!
Ingo's hammer of Thor was more wicked than what "LaStarza, Charles, Cockell and Moore" had at 185+ pounds.......... By 1959, Marciano would be age 36 and faded from his 1952 / '53 peak..... I think Ingo's '59 hammer of Thor stops Marciano..... MR.BILL
Good Lord, some of you people are missing the fact that Marciano's attack, with his slight build and no reach, was based on precise timing and durability. Both factors would have been greatly diminished with 3 years out of the ring and 3 years additional aging. These are not disadvantages with which one would wish to present Ingo. This is a completely one-sided beatdown in my opinion.
YES! I just reviewed the scores of "Ali-Frazier 1.":yep Referee Mercante: 8-6-1 Frazier... I respect that...:good Judge 1: 9 to 6 Frazier... Okay...:think Judge 2: 11 to 4 Frazier... BULL****!:rofl:dead MR.BILL:hat NOTE: ****! Wrong Thread......

D'Amato didn't rush the fight but that doesn't mean he thought Marciano was all wrong for him.
If Cus D. was paranoid of Patty facing Marciano in '56 it was only cuz he may've felt his boy Floyd was still a wee bit green, despite knowing Rocco was aging at that same time... Other than that, Patty's speed and finess was tops in 1956.... MR.BILL
