If Marquez who has never been a defensive master, who pretty much gets busted up in all his fights, from Katsidis to a faded Barrera, can easily slip and duck Pacquiao's wild punches.

Why cant Mayweather if so chose to, fight Manny in the pocket? How wouldnt Floyds footwork, size, speed and intelligence dominate him?

If Mayweather fought this way it'd probably give Pacquiao his only chance to win. But I dont see why he couldnt if he chose to.

I don't see Mayweather taking that kind of risk. Marquez ducks under Pac's punches and then comes up under and over from a low angle. Mayweather's tall and usually prefers to box at arms length, even when throwing a combination like he did against Ortiz. Pac isn't an elite counter-puncher, but Floyd doesn't throw his punches at shoulder level and a good shot from Pacquiao as the shorter man in close range could land.

    I wouldn't say he "can't."

TS, don't pay too much attention to what Bogotazo said about Floyd. Floyd doesn't pivoting/circling around the ring as much as JMM does, but he does use range distance to force his opponents to leaping/lunges in to close in the distance, and that's when he'll either back step to throw a left hook or jab, and quickly changes his direction. Floyd knows how to fight tall and use his reach as an advantage. JMM is very dependent on constantly pivoting around because he lacks the reach advantage to fight a "tall man" fight, therefore his footwork is his key ingredient. But make no mistakes, Floyd will feed off of however Manny press his attacks on him.

I think people underestimate the fact that Floyd doesn't fight his opponents the same way in every fights, he just adjust to the way you're coming at him. If you're going to use good footwork and footspeed against him, then he'll step it up a notch to match up your footwork and footspeed[Like he did against JMM and Hatton]. Mosley and Ortiz didn't used much footwork against him, so there wasn't any need for him to constantly moving around all the time when he didn't had to because he's defensively skilled enough to used his upper body movement to made them miss. With Manny, he will try to step it up a notch to match up his footwork and however Manny comes at him because his style is to feed off of his opponents fundamental mistakes.

It doesn't matter what Bogotazo, Floyd will not get hit as consistently as JMM did. It's irrelevant to say Floyd won't have the same success that JMM have had just because he doesn't constantly pivoting around the ring, doesn't throw combos, ect. JMM got away with few mistakes on his on in that fight as well, Manny just wasn't able to countered him. The way JMM positioned his body when he throw his uppercuts, he's wide open to get hit by a left cross/left hook.

One of Floyds favorite punches is the right hand lead then roll under the counter. Its the first 3 or 4 punches he landed against Ortiz.

Mayweather easily ducked under shorter mans Marquez punches

Mayweather was able to get low enough to duck and slip under Marquez' punches and he and Pacquiao are virtually the same height....Moot point try again :deal

Floyd would duck Pacquiao's sloppy wild punches all night.

Pacquiao has no jab at all and can't fight inside.

Mayweather would start pot shotting Pacquiao around the 3rd round to an easy UD or KO.

I also think that these guys are trying to implying that Manny would beat Floyd to the punches first if Floyd decide to fight at close range; as if Floyd doesn't have great timing or isn't quick enough to land his punches off first on Manny.

um marquez moved back all night, he stepped forward and landed a couple of big hits. I think pacs speed and power would be more effective if he can touch you

What amazed in this fight is that JMM took Pac shots well whenever he was hit. I can see Floyd even walking Pac down after the fourth round. I favored Floyd to win after the Mosley fight. I fallow his career and it was his first fight that I could see his punches. He has a chance to hurt Floyd with a big punch like he did with Cotto but if Floyd reacts well to his punches like JMM the fight is over. He is better defensively and has better reach and enough power to get his respect.

P.S. as I said before Floyd made a huge mistake not to fight Pac sooner whenever the reason and to seal his legacy. Now even if he wins it will downplayed
