He did pretty well on Saturday against an opponent who wasn't throwing anything back but if his name wasn't Chris Eubank would anyone be saying he should be in with Paul Smith or even that he should jump straight to 8 rounders?
Probably not but it seems the norm to wanna fast track any half talented lads who come on the scene. The lad should be moved slowly IMO. But i'm sure Drinker knows what he's doing ... He's not got the extensive amateur background like DeGale and Groves, They should look at Scott Quigg's development.
tbf i heard he became the nevada state no.1 in his 6th fight, and then the western states no.1 in his 8th fight and was runner up in the golden gloves? or is that bull**** because somebody put that on here somewhere but it was unsourced and ive never been arsed to look it up
Probably did mate i did here about the Golden Gloves title being won but DeGale and Groves have boxed for England loads of times, traveled and boxed in comps etc. He only had 26 bouts or something?..record 24 wins from 26. Quigg i believe had 26-28 bouts, DeGale and Groves have had that extensive background of fighting differing styles. That's why they can be pushed on a bit more.

ye i agree mate i think the quigg comparison in spot on :good if he can be brought along slowly like that, getting decent rankings without facing any jumps in talent too soon i think that would be best for him, hes had great pro sparring as well so i think he'll be learning outside of fights, no need to risk an upset that'll derail him early doors
His performance was very raw. poor defence. Its easy to look good against an opponent that doesnt punch back. He has a lot to learn in the pro game before anyone can say hes a prospect. Smith would tear him apart atm. He could be very good in a few years though, still has plenty to learn.

1. The author of this thread lived up to his name. But i think he was on the super tennants. 2. Eubanks Jnr's titles in americas were equivalant to the ABA under 10 novices but the ABA novices are for the whole country,not just one state like the nevada golden gloves. 3. Scott Quigg only had 12 am fights most of his experience before turning pro was from muay thai. 4. At least Eubanks Managed to get a stoppage Groves went the full six rounds with psonko. 5. But i do agree his defence was poor the other guy only threw three shots the whole fight and connected every time.
lol the mighty paul smith who got splattered to the canvas in 2 rounds by groves and went life and death with quigley. not to mention struggling to a 12 round decision with dodson. I'd say someone with the amateur experience of Eubank Jr would have a very good chance. This is a young man who has been trained by people like floyd sr. not to mention his own father who was a very good fighter indeed and clearly he has taught his son some of his trademark moves. Eubank Jr has been a sparring partner for the whos who of british boxing. smith has taken hidings from groves and degale. severe hidings. im sure you still believe he is world class though
