I'd still think he was an overrated Euro hype job who only decent victories were over the likes of Andrade, Mundine(who is struggled with) and Beyer. 3 fighters who any elite Super Middleweight today would have toyed with.

I dont believe the Ring would've bought into the hype.

Kessler is a fine fighter, who'd be near the top of any weight division we have today. He's fighting in a fairly deep SMW division, which is both a blessing and curse. Btw. the two fighters to have beat him have both possessed great footwork, using movement to neutralize his jab - many good, even great, fighters have a kryptonite like that. Some of Kessler's skills are/were truly world class, but perhaps he lacked the final bit of mental toughness in those two important bouts that he lost (both away from home in a fairly hostile environment).

Cliff Rold who's a longtime member of the rings ratings comitee and he compiles rankings for a rival to this site.

His rankings as of November 2007:

    1: Mayweather
    2: Pacquiao
    3: Calzaghe
    4:Vasquez
    5: Calderon
    6: R. Marquez
    7: Hopkins
    8: JM. Marquez
    9: Kessler
    10: Cotto.

    On Kessler he writes:

Of course that's still D-level to you right?

You cannot say that at all. Kessler and his team had spotted that Froch was not effective when fighting off the back foot. So they made an adjustment in Kessler's style to become much more aggressive. More aggressive than ever and with a focus on a heavy bodyattack.

So the difference in footwork was mainly because Kessler was the aggressor. Against Andrade, where his footwork looked superb, he was more a counterboxer.

Froch fights his best off the back foot. As to why his performances against Abraham and Johnson were better then how he looked against Dirrell.

    What are you talking about?

I haven't got the ring rankings, but even if he wasn't on the ring's top 10, the ranking I posted implies that he would be close. Besides: Who said Ring Magazine is the ultimate truth? Personally I dont think they are.

You probably disagree on all counts here.

based on what? cause he has potential? aren't you the guy who always trash bute cause of his resume even tho all say he has potential?so an american black guy who achieve nothing at smw and made a fool out of himself in the only 2 real fight he had will beat kessler and the ibf champion can't beat anyone with a spine cause he has a week resume but worth 5 times the resume dirrell has.kinda week argument don't you agree?

Exactly what I think of when I think of Kessler trying to hit Dirrell.

Dirrell would spend more time on the floor than erect.
