Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch: who will win?

IMO, he is the best smw right now, and beats anyone from froch to bute.

Froch doesn't have the inside game to contend with Wards in for face(with his forehead) style.
Unless Carl is prepared to take some warnings and possible point deductions for retaliatory butts, he's gonna be frustrated and out of his game all night.:deal

 

I don't see how Froch can pull it off. I've always considered his power to be overrated, so it's not like he's got a neutralizer. I like him better as a fan, but I repsect Andre more as a fighter. Andre is too damn good. He makes it really hard to land on him clean, and he's got great speed and accuracy. Carl looked like crap against Dirrell and the only reason the Kessler fight was so close was Mikkel was having trouble pulling the trigger, otherwise I think he would've dominated Carl.

I expect this to be an ugly fight with lots of wrestling, Andre's kind of fight. Have to wait til Bute to see Ward maybe lose.

 

Carl's best shot might be to time Ward diving in for a clinch.

 

I really think Ward is going to beat Froch up impressively.

 

Of course my money would be on Ward. - But Froch is deceptively fast & powerful.

Yeah, I know, laugh all you want, but I stand by this statement.

As I've written before, I think Froch's power AND speed are underrated, because of his odd style & long arms. Those looping shots seem to take a while to reach their target, and so you assume they are not powerful. However, they are traveling a greater distance than a straight punch, and so are actually moving quite fast. Speed + mass + power.

Watch a few Froch fights, and pay attention to his opponents' reactions when they get hit. The man has power. Sneaky power.

Froch's 75" reach also gives him leverage. Compare to Bute's @ 72" & Ward @ 73". That's significant for power, not just ring tactics. Power comes from speed & mass, but also from leverage.

Also, Froch's rather baroque style might slightly confuse Ward. Probably not, as Ward is very intelligent, but still it gives Froch a chance.

 

Ward decision.

 

Ward gets the decision. He can box his way to victory. Only way froch gets a result in america is by K.O.

It wont be pretty, but Ward should grab a unanimous decision here. Maybe something like 117-111.
