What effect, if any, would Pac's fan base have on the odds in a Pac-Floyd fight?

It is pretty well-known that Pac has probably the largest, and one of the most loyal fan bases in the sport of boxing. And that fan base is rumored to be some really big spenders in Vegas.



My question is: Do you think the nature of his fan base (loyal and willing to gamble big) will have an appreciable effect on the odds in this fight?



For me, I can totally see quite a few Pac fans betting on him, regardless of how much the odds begin to tilt toward him being the favorite. And I also think this could have an effect (positive or negative) on the mindstate of the ever-emotional Floyd Mayweather.

 

Floyd is a coward and will continue to duck Pac.

I think it would have a marginal effect. say if FMJ was a 4 to 1 favorite. it could be brought to a 3 to 1.

 

Just like all Mayweather fights, the odds get way closer than they should ever be hours before the bell rings. Some people in Vegas when I was there for Ortiz were putting money on Ortiz at only 3:1... like "are you ****in serious?!"

I would imagine this would be magnified for Pacquiao. I sense a 50/50 betting line, and a lot of smart bookies waging the mortgage on Mayweather.

 

Yes, it will have an effect. I can see Floyd being about a 2/1 favorite. Anything more would be ludicrious.

Probably a lot. It always is in huge effect when you have a fighter like Manny. You may have people taking advantage of the odds by putting money on Floyd (I know I would) but it would likely put Manny as the favorite for the betting public.

This is basically how i see it. The fact thathe has such a huge, loyal following will definitely tilt the odds maybe even in Pac's favor. Pac could be favored heavily and you would still have plenty of people putting their money on Pac.

 

3-1 in favor pf Floyd.

IMHO, PBF has a huge stylistic advantage over Pac, and you can be certain he's going to abuse whatever physical advantages he has over Pac. I'm rooting for Pac, but I feel thaat Floyd will always have a significant edge over Pac in a few departments.

 

JMM had more fans in vegas than pac (or so it sounded).
