I think Margarito will win again.

  1. I'm not entirely convinced that having a bit of plaster of paris on the handwraps would make a great deal of difference.

Might be worth an experiment methinks.

I don't see how Cotto's face is great evidence of illegal handwraps. He took masses of punches.

It's a strange one. Even without wraps I could see Margarito having that effect on Cotto. We saw against Mosley that Cotto just keeps backing up the later fight goes if he hasn't got his opponent out of there, and we've seen it since the first Margo fight against Clottey and Pacman. To me he's always - with the aid of retrospect and hindsight - been on the precipice of that sort of stoppage.

I can see Cotto wilting a bit earlier this time, or at least his snappy boxing losing it's lustre quicker than in their first fight when he was undefeated and full of confidence. He'll get dragged into a slug-fest sooner. It remains to be seen then who's resistance has improved and regressed since the first fight (Margo's eye), and who offense has ( Margo's plaster :hey ) .

Bodyblaster - that's just Cotto. He doesn't ever show much emotion - he's the most taciturn guy I've seen in and around the ring. If he was banging the table saying "I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!" you'd be saying he was acting out of character.

So many amateur psychologists on here.

To listen to people speak you would think that Margo had bricks in his gloves....what did the investigation dig up?, what was the sum total of the "loading"?

Well they did conclude the pad was hard and the plaster like substance would have hardened over the course of the fight. So, that has pretty serious implications for anyone you’re hitting with them.

They did, but what was the extent of the evidence?...in other words was the glove absolutely packed with a plaster of paris mould? or did they just recover one piece of old tape that had hardened? Its a genuine question because I just can't recall

They recovered two pads, which were hard and plastic in feel. They sent the wraps for testing and there was a plaster like substance, so a coating, that would have hardened over the course of the fight. If I get time this afternoon I’ll dig out the ESPN report from the hearing.

CSAC believed that the wraps for the Cotto fight were tampered with too, but of course NSAC denied it – as if they were going to admit otherwise and entertain a lawsuit from Top Rank and Cotto! So the court threw that evidence out.

He punched Lujans ear off. The guy is a f'n cheater, plain to see. Very rare that any fighter has damaged faces as he has by throwing arm punches.

Thanks...I'm surprised that a plaster like substance could harden over the course of a fight, I would have thought that the opposite would be true. I'm always amazed that fighters take that type of risk, not of getting caught but the damage that they can do to their hands....the padding and gloves are there to protect their hands as much, if not more than the opponents head.

Not necessarily evidence. 1. He throws a lot of punches. 2. He throws uppercuts and punches which cut across the opponent rather than just straight shots, the type that will mark up a face.

Not saying he hasn’t had them in other fights, just that you can’t tell by looking at someone’s face.
