That’s not exactly how it happened, but you’re broadly right. Bradley, when he agreed to the extension, didn’t know he was going to get a $1m guarantee for the Alexander fight and his next fight.

Before the Pac fight was an option, I think he’d have taken the Khan fight. But when he realised it was, he wanted to finish out his contract, take his guaranteed $1m for fighting a standard defence, and move on.

Shaw was not comfortable with that and tried to force the Khan fight at the existing financial terms and with another contract extension.

I’m not saying either side is blameless, but Shaw is not known for acting with integrity, is he?

    Nah, you're right. Shaw's a proper ****.

But, I was under the impression that it was only the Khan fight he [Shaw] was after. He even revised his deal with Bradley to entice him in it. He wasn't looking to keep his claws digged into him any longer than that. It was a case of "Fight Khan under me like you promised you would, then you're free."

And I'd be very surprised if Bradley wasn't aware of the $1m HBO guarantee when he signed that initial extension. Dunkin's a top-notch manager, and he would have made Bradley fully aware of it from the beginning.

I don't think it was on the table at that point. They didn't start negotiations until the extension was signed.

And I think that WAS the deal, until Timmy said he didn't want Khan and was looking to move promoters. There was no way Shaw was going to let him go without getting what he wanted.

His commentary was awful but he was honest during the fight, he had Manny losing... then changed his mind when they gave the decision.
