    :think

    Would be sad if the Pacster had his new Ferrari repo'd after raking in a small fortune in his third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.

    Funny how there are no storeys about Arum being broke.

    $22 million was just the base wage, I read in a report Arum was quoted as saying Manny will make well over $30 million.

    I thought Manny was of the opinion that Money and possessions were the root of all evil?

    Good point.

    I'm not sure what percentage Pac will get on the PPV, and at what number (like, say, over 1.0M PPV buys) that percentage will kick in.

    Manny should be fine for a while. Ten years from now... that is another story. I hope he stays a rich man though.

    I thought the Ferrari was bought before the fight. So the money spent for that car is not from the JMM fight.

    The base wage on his fight contract was actually $6M. It wouldn't surprise me though if he ended up pulling in over $30M

    Agreed. I know I don't want to see Pac as a doorman at a casino in the Philippines equivalent of Vegas.

    But, let's look at some data I just dug up. I'm not sure if this is exact, but it seems reasonably accurate.

    Here is how much money Pacquiao has apparently grossed from his fights (3) in the last 14 months or so:

    vs Antonio Margarito -----> $20.0M ----- Sept 2010
    vs Shane Mosley ---------> $20.0M+ --- May 2011
    vs Marquez III -----------> $22.0M+ ---- Nov 2011

    That's more than $60 million made -- just from in-ring earnings, not counting endorsements, etc -- in little over a year.

    You have to work very hard to fritter away that kind of money. Not saying it can't be done, because it can be done and has been done.

    If a person can't manage to live with that amount of money and not be "broke," I'm not sure it's anyone's fault but his or her own.

    Based upon some of what was said recently here on ESB, it sounded that way.

    Not sure that matches up with reality, however.

    If he is broke he will still be right now. Its not like he already got the cash. It should take some time.
    Every one of his fights will set him for many lifetimes. He can go broke six times in a row but as long as he can fight, he will make enough,
