Yes, Starling so slow, unable to keep up.If only he was a near 40, blown up fighter never known for blazing speed in the first place. Then he might have a chance at landing something.
Starling style is all wrong for Manny. He's quick, has a great jab, can fight on the inside, and has a great chin. The only advantage that Manny would have is speed, and Starling can nullify that. I'm thinking that Starling could nullify anything Manny mustered up. Manny would get busted up. I see a UD for Starling.
The Starling of the Curry fights was ace. Okay, too much posing in his first big TV appearance in the 1st, but bar Curry putting in his best showing in the rematch he was quality. I agree, that Starling would beat Pacman.
Pacquiao had problems landing on Clottey of course Marlon would give him hell. He'd outbox him and counter him to death making Pacquiao frustrated because he's not landing much at all. Overall interesting matchup but I go for Starling. BTW, Starling-Curry II is up on youtube finally. I've been waiting for 2 years!
On his very best night and with everything going his way, Marlon might have given Pac a great match, but I don't see him winning, and on most evenings, probably would have lost handely.... Starling was agreat fighter no doubt, but this is the wrong type of fight for him against a man who his a few levels higher in ability.
My first thoughts were that Starling would school Pac, being too good technically, the main issue I see is the lack of a good long straight right from Starling. The only southpaw I can think of he faced being Nunn, who he did well against from my recollection. The lack of the right hand still raises question marks, as do how he'd handle a fast pace that Manny would set. Clottey is a poor man's Starling and he would have done pretty well if he opened more imo.
Starling threw a perfectly fine straight right PP. In terms of southpaws, he had trouble gauging Bumphus. Pacquiao would be nowhere near as awkward as that lanky switch-hitting weirdo. Against a disinterested Nunn he pressed the action, and clearly won 4 rounds IMO. Pacman wouldn't be anywhere near as hard to find or as educated with his attempts to squeek through Moochys guard. One thing is, as strong as Starling was (and, apart from Curry II never being pushed back or taking a backwards step) Manny will be in his element. However, he'll get frustrated, walked down, tangled up and beat up. All down to whether Starling can outwork him, he'll certainly be doing the cleaner work.
Starling got shafted by that **** Duva and the bull**** open scoring against bumphus.he was starting to put it on him, after taking it easy in the early rounds. Bumphus gets a cut which Duva tries to make worse knowing the judges had bumphus slightly ahead to quickly get it stopped from the accidental butt while he still had a lead.
