.......when they did. Both men had ambitions of regaining the title, held by George Foreman. It was a dead cert that whichever one got the shot first, the other would get one soon afterwards. They did n't need to fight one another in January 1974,but they did,as we all know. Credit to both men ! :good

This would probably never happen with today's bunch.

Absolutely..it matterd more to these guyz to get back at each..make a point..than anything else..and so they did..Ali was convinced he could beat Joe the 2nd time around..Smokin' Joes was sure he could wallop Ali again..especially after George tore him up..

    Great warriors.

Damn straight Stevie..I still cringe when I watch The Thriller in Manilla..that was some career-ending fighting right there..Tremendous beating they put on each other these two.

IMO..Ali is The Greatest because he met another great in Joe Frazier.

    :good.

That's become the consensus, mainly through word of mouth but i quite enjoy that fight actually. It wasn't as bad as people like Bert Sugar will have you believe.

Well I can think of about 140 HW fights i'd rather watch, and that's good enough for me.

I fully agree with you. It's just that it was n't as momentous as their first one,and not as brutal as the third. It was still a good and fast paced heavyweight bout,on the whole.

Ali-Frazier II was a good fight, obviously it wasn`t as good as 1 & 3, which I regard as the 2 best HW fights of all time & I think fight 2 suffers when being ranked because of this but to me, it was a very good fight.

Also at stake was the title of 'Best Fighter Of An Era' In spite of what happened to Frazier in the two George Foreman fights.
