Marquez -If I dont fight Pacquiao, I will just retire.

Juan Manuel Marquez (53-6-1, 39KOs) will only stick around for a fourth showdown with Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38KOs). The Mexican champion is considering the possibility of retirement and plans to make a final decision within 20 days to a month. If he decides to continue his career, Pacquiao is the only fight he wants or else he'll retire from boxing. Last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Pacquiao retained his WBO welterweight title with a controversial twelve round majority decision over Marquez.
"The fight can't happen in Las Vegas, and there have to be neutral judges and we must do well economically. Then people will realize the fight is going to be completely neutral and a true winner will leave the ring. We must convey that boxing still has credibility. In the two matches that I've had with him, I found a weak point. And I've always said that if I fought him with the same speed, with the same pace, with movements of the waist and with counterattacks - it make things complicated for him - and that's what we did, and we fought him with intelligence. If I don't fight [Pacquiao], there isn't anyone else, I'll just retire," Marquez told Sal Rodriguez.

 

I honestly don't think he needs this fight anymore at this point....

1. He already knows what's going to happen again and receive another SD loss due to corruption.
2. He doesn't need the money at this point in my opinion.
3. He is the winner of the Pac-JMM trilogy in the eyes of the true fans and will forever be remembered as the legend who had Pac's number.

 

The reason JMM is retiring is to avoid Humberto Soto.
since Soto has moved to 140lbs., JMM is deathly scared to fight Soto, and doesnt want media pressure and the Mexican media exposing him for being afraid of Soto.

months ago, JMM was being interviewed by ESPN DEPORTES live via satellite from his Mexico training camp, and when the ESPN asked JMM about a possible fight with Soto, JMM did not answer that question and changed the subject.

alot of Mexican media already know that JMM has been ducking Soto for years, and JMM would rather retire, than face Soto, because JMM knows Soto is very good and brutal bodypuncher, something that no one else, not even Pac, not Floyd, or anyone else can pulverize and opponents' body the way Soto can.
