The more I think about it, the less I want to see a 4th next. Just bring on the Mayweather fight, once and for all.
I'm inclined to agree. What motivation does Marquez have for a fourth fight now anyway, other than the money? He isn't going to KO Pac (unlikely to rather) and he clearly isn't going to get a points decision no matter how well he fights. It's a waste of time. Pac/Mayweather should have happened twice by now. It needs to happen and soon.
4th fight wont prove anything anyway, but we'll not see the mythical May Pac fight anytime soon (probably never)
Hopefully JMM doesn't give Arum a chance to make it, and we can save ourselves the bull**** of another 8-10 months of blaming one side or the other of why the megafight hasn’t happened yet. I supported this 3rd JMM fight because it was a meaningful one, and it would still provide Pacquiao with a stern test. But with that result, Pacquiao has had a full year of disappointing results, and Arum doesn’t seem to give a **** how bad Pacquiao looks in the process. Yeah, Mayweather’s a dick and he hasn’t made things easy himself, but, he’s the only one that the fans want Pacquiao to fight. He [Mayweather] appears to be ready for a May showdown, so why not go ahead and see if he’s serious about it? Because right now, despite the drug-testing nonsense and vacations that Mayweather’s been putting in the way for the past 2 years, the tables have turned and it’s Pacquiao that’s not looking good. It's up to Pac to say enough is enough. Edit: One thing's for sure, is that after Saturday night, the Pac-May fight has lost its lustre even more.
I still want to see it, though. At some point. Pacquiao needs to prove he can beat JMM decisively. Or is it a case of JMM will forever be Pac's bogeyman, and no matter how manny fights they have, they'll always be close?
Problem he is, by the time JMM is 40 Pac might actually be able to beat him. And there'd be no point.
To be honest, at this point, I don't care who is to blame or for what. Just get the fight made. As I said, they could have fought twice by now, maybe 3 times. We could have had some amazing fights, injected a bit of interest into our sport from the outside world from a positive perspective. But no. We have Pacquiao in cruise control, mayweather fighting once a year, bad judging decisions, sucker punches, etc, etc. I'm losing interest in a Pac/Mayweather fight, I never thought I'd say that, and the longer we have to wait the less meaningful the fight becomes.
This exactly, can you imagine people saying 'he had to wait for Marquez to get close to 40 then finally after 3 previously failed attempts he managed to beat him'
A lot of people are, mate. The fight’s peak – the hype, demand, excitement and fighter’s primes – was back in March and November 2010, where both guys were coming off back-to-back dominant victories and were in good standing with the boxing public. Now, they’ve just put a lot of people off. I no longer get excited when thinking/speaking about their match-up and its build up. I just role my eyes and think: whatever man, wake me up when they’re about to step in the ring.
Great Article! I don't know if *******s just don't want to accept the fact that their fighter lost, or if they are just mentally incapable. Their use of the English language would suggest the latter, but who knows. The Fact is Marquez won and I doubt Arum will concede to Dinamita's demands, so bring on the Mayweather fight. I can't wait to observe the reactions of the *******s when Pac gets embarrassed.
