I had Kessler by two; I felt at the time that too often Froch would open up Kessler's defence, then just land one shot or pot shot the jab at him, he seemed to lack his usual killer instinct. Had he moved in and tried to land combinations once he had an opening, rather than throwing one and standing back, I think he could have won the fight. Felt at the time that he let Kessler off the hook too often and paid for it by dropping the verdict. Close but fair decision, imho, but very frustrating to watch.

Well, either he did take the point away, admitted it and then backtracked or he's an incompetent judge, because that round was probabily Whitakers best of the fight. It was a very clear and easy round to score in favour of Pernell and he was the only one who gave it to Chavez.

I believe he made a mistake and took a point away.

Kessler made the adjustment and won handily 116-112 on my card, exploiting Frochys lack of inside fighting ability, and Kessler was past his best.

    FFS!

Was it a 10-9 round for Chavez? If so that means he had it even before that.

Yep. The frustrating thing is a 10-10 gives Pernell a MD and changes history (Whitaker went off the rails even more after getting jobbed against Chavez). I know people who never looked at boxing the same way after that. Like walking in on a girl you're in love with sleeping with another man. Devastating!

Not sure why this is still discussed. Close but clear to Kessler.

I dont even like watching Froch, too agricultural for my liking, but he won that fight imo. I felt Froch landed the more significant punches, and that Kessler fell short a lot with these so called jabs to the body.

Chavez-Pea was one of the most crooked decisions I've ever seen.

I had Kessler by 3 on the night and 2 when I re watched the fight I honestly don't see how Froch won that fight he wasn't active enough for me.

It was the rights to the body that were scoring and taking their toll on Froch.

OK, but can't judges give 10-8 rounds even when no knockdown happens?

If you consider a fighter has done everything BUT knock the other man down. Basically, the other guy is effectively a punching bag. So Khan-Maidana round 10 (the one where he got his clock cleaned) would be a 10-8 round.

But Kessler was landing his own shots. It was Froch’s round IIRC, but he didn’t really do any great damage to Mikkel.

Im a big Froch fan but I had Kessler by 1 round. Froch could have won if he stepped it up earlier. If the rematch gets done im backing Froch

Kessler win. I remember watching it and immediately knowing that froch hadn't done enough to get the nod in Denmark. No complaints from me. Still a very good and close fight.
