I was looking forward to this being at a packed, pro-Cotto MSG :fire

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated on twitter:

Source: New York Athletic Commission will reject Antonio Margarito's application for a license. Margarita-Cotto will move out of NY

Bob Arum tells SI that Texas, Denver and Mississippi will be looked at as alternate venues. Announcement will come at end of the day.

Shame. Is it his eye or the wraps?

It'll probably be in Texas now.

I thought this fight would head somewhere else when this problem first came up. I guess people travelling ill have to think about paying extra for connecting flights (if they've got the time on their itinery.

The eye. They're not convinced it's healed properly.

I was really considering going to this fight too. Arum has ****ed the fans over, hugely. You can't promote a fight for months when it's uncertain a fighter will be accepted. I'd have been really annoyed if I'd paid to go over there, then found out the fight was in Mississippi.

Will it still be Dec 3rd? Sounds doubtful they will sell out a decent arena in a couple of weeks.

Personally one of the most appealing things about this fight was that it was gonna be in msg in front of a partisan Puerto rican crowd.

I can still see Cotto fighting at msg December 3r, against that boring **** vanes

His eye looks destroyed to be fair.

If it was anyone else but Margo, boxing fans would probably be hoping that Margo didn't fight again.

Get the fight to Puerto Rico. :happy

I was really excited to see 20,000 in MSG. The Puerto Rican's raining down abuse and boo's as Cheato makes his way to ring.

I've seen the hbo face off video and i can't see the damage you mention

Sure plenty of ufc fighters have come back from broken orbital bones. Josh koscheck had one recently enough as well, and he seems to be back in fine form

boxing is not mma though, the eye will take a lot more punishment than a mma fighters eye will take
