What's the craic people? Been a while since I bored you all with my Mijares-loving so I thought I might as well give an update on Diamante. As LP stated above, he vacated his IBF super flyweight title around three months ago for reasons that are yet to be disclosed by Team Mijares, but one can only assume it's due to weight-making difficulties, which he has suffered from before at the conclusion of his last tenure as 115lbs champion. Quite which weight he has moved up to is hard to distinguish as he's calling out guys at both bantam and super bantam. Or maybe not, either way despite the fact it should've happened years ago, it would still be a pretty meaningful fight as of right now, and would propel the winner right back to elite-level standing. Dangerous proposition for Diamante. It could resemble the Arce clinic...or it could resemble the Darchinyan disaster. :think Montiel actually represents the much more attractive risk-reward ratio if he's staying in the game. Big name and excellent scalp (probably fetching a good deal more money still, as well), and if Mijares weren't to have been favored before last night he surely ought to be now...
Hello people, quick update because I've concocted an idea that's got some substance to it. That idea is Mijares-Jorge Arce II for Arce's WBO title at bantamweight. The reason being that Travieso has confirmed that his next defence will be on February 12th(think it's the 12th) in Durango, Diamante's hometown no less. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it's certainly more than feasible when you think about it. From Arce's perspective, it's a chance to obtain revenge against the man who schooled himhey) in what will inevitably be one of the more lucrative - and, in his mind, winnable - big fights for him out there right now. Mijares' viewpoint will surely be that he can use Arce's renaissance and regression as the perfect platform to propel himself back into the limelight. Because let's face it, despite proving himself to be superior, Mijares' career hasn't exactly gone as swimmingly as Arce's in recent times. Just a thought is all.
