no no no, it's pac that can't cut off the ring when guys aren't in front of him. Floyd cutting off the ring on Pac would be THE DUMBEST IDEA EVER. That's why Hatton fell down to his death: he tried to cut into Pac. Pac sucks at cutting off the ring, but if he could it would favor him at those close quarters. As it is, Floyd needs to keep him lunging in and missing just like JMM. Trying to cut off the ring on Pac is game over, he can land and won't look clumsy. Only super chinned Erik Morales the first time could do it.
This style match up tells me: if you don't move well and are not quickfooted going backwards, Pac destroys you no matter how big and strong you are. If you can move backwards and fight off the back foot entirely, Pac has a hard hard time closing ring space, he needs the in and out on a stationary opponent. Floyd standing flat footed = win for Pac. Floyd moving = win for Floyd. Easy scenario.
No, Judah was able to escape when ever he wanted and did when he tried. He was simply tired and went to the ropes on his own accord. You are also forgetting that before Judah tired he dropped Floyd when Floyd tried to cut off the ring.
What are you talking about? People predicted Ortiz and Mosley to back Floyd up but it was the opposite. Floyd can stand in front of his opponent and not get hit, while catching him on the retreat.
I'm not saying Floyd should cut the ring off on Pac, I was saying how pac can't do it. Then Windigo came and said you can't do it vs the opposite stance and I showed him Floyd doing it
Yeah cutting off the ring on a super powerful southpaw is a bad idea unless you can get "outside" their right jab (ie - they aren't right hookers in general). Boxing off the back foot against a southpaw is a pretty good strategy if you have better timing.
Oritz and Mosley are very conventional in their in close attack compared to Pac, he has weird body mechanics. I had no doubt in my mind Floyd would win every round against the orthodox Marquez - he has that style timed. Pac is much more erratic if you are in range. This is also why Hatton made him uncomfortable at time - he doesn't follow sound boxing principal in close, it's a bit rougher. Carlos Hernandez and Jesus Chavez had equal success in making Floyd look a bit uncomfortable while still managing to lose the fight.
And it cuts both ways for both orthodox and southpaw. You really need the reach advantage if you want to even try. Most fighters JMM included will have equal or better reach against Manny. If you chose to fight off your back foot all night against Manny you just better hope that the judges score it for you. That didn't work for JMM. I dont think Manny needs to learn how to cut off the ring. I think its a failed approach to begin with. He does need to get better at winning the exchanges with a counter puncher by the end of the fight he was doing a good job using movement to neutralize Marquez counters in a lot of those exchanges. Its one of the reasons he won 3 of the last 4 rounds on my card.
Ok Ok I'm sorry, I won't bring Floyd into this. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xtkh7PH2kI[/ame] Here's Chavez cutting off the ring on a RUNNING southpaw :deal
Yeah let's compare Ortiz and Mosley to Pacquiao. Pacquiao ****s people up that try and walk him down, he's been feasting on it at 147 and ending careers.
