Just saw Pacquiao/Marqez III. My thoughts

Good parralel with Chavez-Whitaker.

I had Chavez-Whitaker scored a draw, but felt that only two rounds in that fight that were clear cut, both won by Whitaker.
Whitaker did the most damage, but he did it all in only those two rounds......the rest of the fight was a case of Whitaker putting his track shoes on and really stalling the action.

The difference between Whitaker and Marquez is that Marquez actually stands in the pocket and actually looks to counterpunch with credible and effective hard punches.

Whitaker against Chavez was on the full run and sticking out jabs with his arm not even fully cocked back to throw it out with power behind it.
.....when you do that, the punches that are toughing and grazing Chavez upside the head are point blank ineffective. The shots have zero on them.

.....this was not the case with Marquez against Pacquiao, where Marquez' shots were consistently throughout the great majority of them thrown with torque and full leverage behind them.
This here was a case of Marquez torqueing up his shots and letting them fly more liberally than Manny Pacquiao who was relugated to taking alot of sting off his punches because Marquez was consistently tagging him so hard with his counters that Pacquiao was afraid to commit to his punches.

Consistently throughout the rounds, Marquez not only threw, but he landed the better cleaner and harder connects round after round.

......I cant say this about Chavez-Whitaker, though I have said many times on this board that if it came down to having to pick a winner, those two dominant rounds Whitaker had that punished Chavez, tips the scales in his favor.

To have to listen to that nauseum as Marquez painted a masterpiece took away from the enjoyment and proudness I felt as Marquez conducted his clinic.

I was glad to here that the rest of the world and their boxing commentating teams saw and and told their viewers about the same fight I was watching.:happy
