Has Mayweather successfully waited out Pacquiao's peak, like SRL did with Hagler?

Ray Leonard did not return to fight Marvin Hagler until Hagler was 33 and had been through a war with John Mugabi the previous year.

Has Mayweather done the same thing? Waited for the opportune moment to make the fight?

He hid behind some completely unfounded PEDs bull**** when the fight was hot in 2009 after Pacquiao looked totally sensational against Hatton and Cotto.

Pacquiao is 33 shortly, and it is utterly normal for a fighter who relies heavily on explosiveness and relentlessness to fade around this age. Against Mosley and now Marquez, Pacquiao has seemed unable to set or maintain the breakneck pace of old.

Has Mayweather successfully done again what he has done throughout his career, carefully handpick the right fight at the right time to put himself in the most advantageous position possible?

I'll give you this Popkins, you were parading this excuse a few months ago..The fact of the matter is, Floyd has gotten slower, less powerful, and less reflexive as he's gotten older. Floyd's nowhere near his prime either.

I see Pacquiao fans already have their excuses lined up. Pacquiao is two years younger than Floyd and hasn't lost in several years. Pacquiao himself says he's still at his peak. Apparently, him struggling with a guy he's been struggling with for 8 years means he's past it. Ok.

Even if he did, the Pac that demolished Cotto still doesn't beat Floyd.

You sound scared and dont want Floyd to beat up on your hero!!! It seeemed like Pacquiao was waiting to JMM got old but that strategy backed fired. Pacquiao looked horrible against to 38 yr old fighters. Floyd is also older than Pacquaio so the age factor is a non excuse for you Tards. Yo Boy got an ass whippin coming so deal with it best you can and this seems to be the way your dealing with it.

Maybe. Although Ray admittedly said he wanted to fight Hagler after seeing him slip against Mugabi, I still think he was at more of a disadvantage, being the smaller man and having been so inactive (although he had sparring sessions simulating real fights).

Mayweather has a style that generally ages better than Pacquiao, but I don't think Pacquiao has slipped much. I attribute his last couple performances more to style. Hagler showed more signs of decline than manny has.

This is a speculation thread. We can only guess.

Floyd is, for all his ghetto thug style, a very clever guy. And there is a lot more noise coming out of his camp after Pac looked bad against JMM. I have no problem to see the point TS is making.

Yes, because age is a numerical scale that we can point to and say exactly how past-prime every fighter is by the age of 32 or 34 or 36.

When Roy Jones was 36 he was getting iced by Glen Johnson. When Bernard Hopkins was 36 he was unleashing beatdown of the decade on Felix Trinidad.

Just one example of why bringing age into it is the behaviour of a ******ed noob.
